Hello there.
As we all know, EVE community is notorious for having people who dedicated some of their time to provide invaluable tools and utilities for entire playerbase, covering areas that developers couldn't due to time constrains and the fact that it's impossible for a few people to always accurately predict what playerbase will need and design necessary tools all at once. Right now, it's almost impossible to imagine seasoned EVE player who doesn't use at least a few things from the list of such tools you all know:
- fitting programs; - market aggregators; - navigation services; - info databases; - process planners; - API trackers...
And so on.
General consensus (as far as I can tell) is that there's is no reason to distract CCP staff from things that only they can do to implement tools that are already available to everyone anyways, and I don't really have any argument against that. Actually, by feeding necessary APIs CCP indicates that they acknowledge that some of these tools is what they'd like to see in the game eventually, but for now they allow players to cover those, supporting the initiative.
However, lately CCP started bringing EVE client to some better standards. For one, we are getting new starmap. As far as I know, someone pointed out that while looking neat, it's not as convenient as, say, what Dotlan offers, and if I remember correctly, CCP actually are looking into possibility to integrate something like that into the client itself.
Rubber hit the road. CCP started to implement things traditionally "outsourced" to community activists. So, let's stop for a second and think what tools, utilities and services CCP should take a look at if they aren't going to stop there. Creators of existing tools, as well as playerbase that uses them, accumulated a lot of experience which is invaluable for people intending to make functional and convenient tool, and it would be a shame to miss an opportunity to make it count.
List tools you'd like CCP to eventually implement into the game, and highlight important features you think shouldn't be missed. I'll modify OP to accommodate your proposals. |
