With the recent gift of 20 days of dual character training, I was thinking of training up a high-sec character to make some extra money.
What I'm wondering is are there more valuable things to do in HS? Is it even worth it to do missions?
I ran straight from high-sec when I started playing, so I'm kinda in the dark on how to do these things.
If 20 days isn't enough to train one up I can buy a PLEX or two. |

Just make another cyno like everybody else. In 20 days you won't train anything bringing more money in hisec than you can earn in your current area (I assume null).

a decent mission char is about half a year of work, all in all. one year if you have OCD and want all important skills at 5. that said, if you have a combat char with good core skills floating around, 20 days should be enought to train up social skills and polish gunnery/navigation etc.
I should buy an Ishtar.

edit: as for income, 100m/hr is the figure usually floated in reference to hisec lvl4 missions. it's a little high for the average mission runner but dedication and experience can get you past that figure easily. Alright. My main has some good skills like you said, I'll head up to high sec to do some stuff.
Also, my current highest standing is with amarr. What corp is the best to run missions for? |

Most people run missions for SoE due to the probes and a probe launchers always being in demand. You can probably find better ISK/LP elsewhere but it will be a moving target and SoE is consistent and easy. |

If you in null or a WH already the best use for a 20 day alt is probably give it some null/WH planets and collect AFK passive ISK from the PI. |

Make an fw alt. 20 days will get you in to an OK frig to do defensive and some ofensive plexing and a little pvp if you want to do something different.. in you in to pi, a pi alt does OK in null.

I would think you could make a decent raven or domi pilot in that time frame, however I don't know that it is worth it. at ~3months of focused character training you can get some decent results, however it is more of a slow and steady mission runner than a high end blitzer. Not really sure what the income is like. then again it is probably something you could fit a MJD to and mostly afk some income.
I'll join the chorus asking CCP, don't take my fancy names away from me!

Alright. My main has some good skills like you said, I'll head up to high sec to do some stuff. Also, my current highest standing is with amarr. What corp is the best to run missions for? your main should have at least -2 or better standings with at least one empire faction, or you will have to run the faction standing repair plan. as for where to run, that's a science in itself.
it has been stated above that you cannot go wrong with sisters of eve. this is generally true, but there are a few small drawbacks. if you want to really optimize for maximum profit, the most important aspect is a good LP store. much of your income will come from converting loyalty points to ISK, so you should find items with high market volume and high ISK/LP. (sisters probes and probe launchers are OK, but there are better items out there.) other than that, you should look for a good place to run missions. here is what to look for: - obviously, at least one lvl4 security agent, two are a bonus. - preferably a 0.5 system, as the payouts scale with sec status. 0.6 can be acceptable if there are other advantages. - preferably no lowsec nearby, so you will not have to decline lowsec missions. - a storyline agent for the same faction nearby, preferably in the same station. - a quiet corner of space, preferably under 10 people in local. the more shiny your ship the more important this point gets. - a small system and small neighboring systems. long warps hurt your income more than you might think. - local rats that fit your mission ship's damage type. bonus points if they have no annoying ewar (unless you can fly a marauder).
it's hard to formulate a precise metric, but the points above should help you decide on where to settle.

This seems to be the point in just 20 days :D
Aside from PI/mining/hauling alts which are useful at 20 days- it is not quite enough. Hence many people will eventually PLEX another 30 days.
The current 10% PLEX sale is not coincidental |
