Greetings dwellers of S&M!
I plan to do some level 4 missions in an attempt to regain my Caldari standings. I can fly most ships, and money is no concern.
So which ship is the most fun to do solo level 4 missions in nowadays?
By "fun" I mostly mean something that will do missions fast. Vast amounts of firepower, preferably with little micromanagement.
Background I've dual boxed level 4s and 5s (when you could get them in high sec) using a variety of ships. For solo missions, I had fun with a Tengu, but this was before the heavy missile nerf. Have no clue about the current scenario.
Any colour you like.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I tried the Mach, and it wasn't special for me. Have also tried a Vargur and a Golem, and like both, though BSes are a bit slow in some missions that require gate to gate travel.
Are the Factional BCs any good?

Faction BCs don't have enough PG for large modules and they only get T1 resists, so they're not very good. Maybe a Dual rep BC could run them? Hmm...
Oh god.

MWD/HAM Tengu's are a thing now though and the old school HML ones are still used here and there. |

Assault frigs are among the least fun ships possible for level 4s. their dps is so low you spend so much time just orbiting battleships shooting, and shooting, and shooting, and reloading, and shooting. I'd rather do anything but that. That said AF are great for burner missions.
for fun: paladin. pretty much just spend your time pressing f1-f4. with a medium rep it is cap stable, and does 1100 dps out to 70km+ Okay honestly a blockade is like 22m in bounties and takes all of 15-20 mins, and I get kinda bored, after 10 or so minutes.
just don't try and shoot angels with it, luckily a mach excels at that.

Oddly enough, I find Guristas a bit more of a pain with a Pally then Angels, though to be fair I tend to hang out in Caldari space and the only angel mission I pull id the occasional Angel Extrav.

yea probably should have added "or guristas" to that line. However the paladin does quite well vs most of the gurista missions as long as you blitz them and don't try to kill all. it does enough damage it isn't going to change too much more than an extra minute here or there. honestly the next best ship for most of those missions would probably be an ishtar just due to the align and warp speed.

I used to make L4s in a Rattlesnake, got bored and decided to try the Hyperion, always wanted to fly it. Started with Rails and now I have it fitted with blasters and a MWD, it's a lot more fun to make the missions this way, at least for me.
Perhaps something like that works for you too. |

rattlesnake. moderate damage type variability. strong tank. 1400+ dps not too hard to get. i normally blap frig/ small stuff with sentries and use missiles on the battleships.
Money at its root is a form of rationing.
When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is.

Yes, that's true but with sentries it gets boring to run the missions, other than that it's a great ship.
Can you tell us how do you get 1400+ dps? never got that much in mine...

If you can dual box, Sheild Ishtars are probably your best bet. They are a breeze to do missions in and require very little micro management. |

1400+ DPS rattlesnake is easy enough to get since they changed it. 3 BCS/ 3 DDA in the lows, 5 cruise launcher II with scourge or inferno rage in the highs, your choice of 2x sentry or 2x heavy or 1x gecko drones. |

My personal favorite right now is a speed tanked Legion with beams. I mapped the new flight controls to the cursor keys, and they make maintaining appropriate range and traversal quite smooth. No reloading and instant ammo type switching are very nice. I've been using two tracking computers scripted for falloff and a single sensor booster. Just to pay it safe, I fit a damage control II and a medium repper II, but I haven't had to use them since I got used to how it flies in level 4 mission rooms. |

For killing stuff fast, the Rattlesnake is probably the best ship, while still having a very decent tank. I've ditched mine and wnt back to an Ishtar tho, as the Ishtar isn't that much slower in killing stuff and you have the high-slots free for two or three salvagers. |
