you probably have no idea who I am but I attempting to create some massive headlining Player Made content
We at the Project are very simply gathering active pilots of all skillsets, exp and alignments to mass together target a particular opponent who is at this point classified
The NPC is the place that accepts pilots for who they are. This allows them to play without over riding dictatorship or convoluted corrupt democratic oversight
I have a number of concerns as how to mobilize pilots effectively without the extremes
1- I would like to ask...if you were to lead a group a people how would you go about setting up an effective system of leadership?
2- How would you balance your responsibility to represent you followers day to day needs with the direction you have promised to lead them in the beginning?
3- Eve pilots you would follow and why you would do so?
For Final Note- our Progress so far...
-over 300 interested...10 % active and growing -8 protectorate corps including taxhaven corps -Almost daily roams for low sec NPSI(when Fc chooses) -5mining systems with orca boosts (when orca pilot online and interested) -advances in self reliant industry trading -explorers gathering Intel on peep movement in an increasing sphere monitoring of a number of wormholes for strikes and raids -Comms are up and functional
1) In my experience, democracies do not work in MMO environments. A lot of people don't want to be bothered with decision making or organizing, they just want to play. The majority want YOU to organize stuff they can participate in, without actually helping to set things up. If you want to actually organize activities without driving yourself mad, you need to find some people you can delegate jobs to and make them officers. And please note: the ones claiming loudest that they should have officer privileges are usually the ones least suited for the role. Try for a meritocracy: give responsibility to the ones who actually try to help their corporation mates (including you) and who don't make everything into a big drama.
2) I will listen to and act on reasonable feedback. I will try to gather information about the game and make it available to the group, and I try to create an environment in which people like hanging out together and helping each other out. But it's not a democracy, and there's no votes: in the end it's my way or the highway.
3) No one. I lead, I don't follow.

Wise words.
1.) People are sad, manipulateable zombie-consumers. Don't give people who want power any form of power. (Except that drama creation can be an important part of finding out more about the people and finding bad apples, but I can't blame you for not considering that)
2.) You are soo right. Democrazy doesn't really work. It's tyranny of the manipulated.
3.) Can we hang out sometime? I know a few really romantic spots out there ......
