Hi, my graphic settings high (except Shadow Quality(low)), using fixed window mode and dx11, i am using msi gt70 0ne, nvidia gtx 680m
Before Rhea, i do not have any problem about graphic. I used to open 7 client same time. After Rhea, something changed and when i open 3 client my fps drop to 20.
I discover something, Before Rhea when i did ALT-TAB and switched to another client, other clients were not use graphic card. They were like freeze. After Rhea all clients use graphic card, regardless their position. If i minimized all, then bring one of them front, my fps rise to 120 again. If i reactivate others my fps drop to 20 again.
How could i set inactive clients should not use graphic card ? |

If you are using Windows 7/8 I find that clicking the little area in the bottom right that minimizes all windows will stop the border-less eve windows from causing GPU load.

Thread has been moved to Issues, Workarounds & Localization. The folks here may be able to help you better.
To my knowledge, the client not rendering when it's in the background is an OS-level thing, not something that Eve itself can control (short of doing some weird tinkering with your window system). I could be wrong though.

lol, typical CCP response...they change something in the code for a patch....then when ppl start complaining about how it is negatively effecting them, they claim, 'its not on our end, it must be something on your end....its totally not related to the patch'.....yet you changed something in the code...but refuse to acknowledge that THAT could be the source of the issue. |

You might want to download a program called OBS (open broadcast software), and do a recording of this FPS drop.
That way everybody would understand what the issue is.
Sometimes visualizing it and recording it to show would make a difference.
Upload the video to youtube with the FPS counter.
yea i know, few hoops to jump through but that would be the best way to show the issue.

While I have the greatest love for our ISD volunteers, their opinions on matters like this do not constitute an official CCP response.
I'll pass this thread along to the graphics QA team, and they'll look into it.

I'm sorry, maybe i wasn't clear, i was meaning that his response was eerily similar to recent responses from CCP Dev's about issues players have in the game that suddenly arise after patches....with no changes to our systems before and after said patches...yet those are the responses we get, CCP, having changed the code in the game, claims most of the issues are 100% on the players end, not theirs. |

We've been looking into this, and for some reason we're not seeing this drop in frame-rate. Could I get you to try something to try and help us narrow down what's causing this?
If you got to the 'General Settings' tab in the settings and set the 'Transparency' slider all the way to the left (zero=no window tranparency), and make sure 'Enable window blur' in not set.
We do know that there is a certain resource-cost that come with these options, and I would really like to hear if changing these settings affect the performance of your system.

I have been having the same issue I suppose, running 1 client is fine, two gets worse and 3 is next to unplayable.
Windows 7 CPU Intel i7 [email protected] NVIDIA GeForce GT555M
Works fine on other games such as Rome Total War, Empire, X3 series with no lag issues. Any ideas what I can do to improve the performance? |

Sory for very late answer but, i do not wanna lose oportunity to fix this so there is,
i did what you want. transparency 0, enable window blur not set.
nothing changed,
I will say it again pls look at it, if i open ONLY ONE client everything is ok, my all settings are HIGH except shader quality http://i.imgur.com/J7eWFbm.png everything was ok until secon client opened. after secon client fps dropped to 24-32, after third client fps dropped 10-14
BEFORE RHEA i was open 5 client in same time and my fps was 60 (it is limit)
So the main problem is NOT releated to my settings.
Before Rhea when i switch between clients, i wait like a half of second for client take control graphic card and render itself. inactive one going wait until i activate it again. i understand that because i said before i wait half second for client render itself again.
My english not good hope u can understand me.
The problem is clients no more going to passive, they still using raphic card power to render themself while they not active.
I do not know if there is windows settings for it but if there is any solution for this u should be find it, u will be hero for everyone.

I was about to write it off and say "it's because of the intel 4000 graphics, but I've run into it myself. The first time I self imposed it.
Decided I wanted my 4770 imbed graphics card the 4600 to run my tv. I have a Nvidia 970.
Installed the Intel drivers, monitor and TV worked fine. Started eve, first client ok, second client utter garbage fps. So checked in game settings, says running on the Nvidia card. Come to realize that doesn't matter it was using the Intel graphics and not the discrete graphics card. Checked bios settings, everything's fine.
Turn off Intel graphics in bios, speed comes back up.
Turn it on, drops again.
I did that by accident but found out the eve online client may not communicate correctly when there is a Intel chip and a Nvidia card on the pc in this configuration.
Intel chip on Nvidia card on Pc monitor into Nvidia card, nothing plugged into onboard graphics (Intel chip, graphics fine).
Plug something to the onboard card (such as a hdmi cord to your flatscreen tv) fps goes to crap. It doesn't matter what it is or the order.
It's probably an os issue as graphivs cards in this configuration doesn't work that well.
I did say I've seen a fps drop since then though. Usual culprit being gas sites. The 2nd client tends to be a lot more choppy.
To the op, look at your computer, and unplug your tv or 2nd monitor from your onboard graphics adapter. Just plug everything into the video card directly. Run everything from the discrete graphics card and see if that resolves the issue. If that doesn't work then the issue is the Intel graphics card as it runs fine with 1 client, but chops up when you start 2

I believe you here. It is a communication issue with the Nvidia card, the Intel card and eve. I'm inclined to say it's eve atm because I couldn't get it to change from the Intel card myself. Something's odd.

Sorry for the delay on following up on this. We are testing a fix internally, which will most likely make it into our next release if it does not introduce any further issues.

Is there any update with the framerate dropping? Im running nvidia optimus with a 630M and my framerate spikes constantly, no matter what graphic settings i have. This is extremely frustrating, pls can we have some sort of feedback as to what it might be? I cant play at all. At the moment im just sitting in Amarr, watching my framerate drop to 2ms every couple of seconds, then back up to 60. Im not even flying anywhere! pls help. |
