I'm surprised to see that some people have only just noticed that Caldari is (arguably) the most SP-intensive race. |

Started as caldari, then went over to Gallente when a rail Mega was the only thing anyone was allowed to bring to a fleet fight.
Roamed as minmatar, Settled with Amarr.
Bout damn time Caldari have a proper rail boat thats actually useful.
Perfect slot layout to be either midrange, or sniper fit.
Glad they didn't make another Drake/Tengu derp boat.
When you've trained everything, and are un-nerfable, its a lot easier to be happy with anything thats good.
So... sorry some folks are annoyed they have to train a 2nd weapons system for a while to use it well, but, its really a much nicer ship than a missile boat would have been.
Lets be honest, the last thing the game ever needed was a cruise spewing derpmovile operating outside of the range of any possible EWAR counter. |

Are you people daft?
Gallente: hybrids, drones Caldari: missiles, hybrids Minmatar: arty, missiles Amarr: lazors, missiles
every race has a few ships that use alternate weapon systems, and gallente require hefty still investment in 2.
caldari: naga, rokh, ferox? (but it can fit missiles too) gallente: almost every ship needs hybrid and decent drone skills (missiles on a mega) amarr: damnation and . isn't there an AF that is purely missiles? minnie: most ships use a full rack of arties, and 2 missiles slots (of course we just tend to put neuts or gang links on instead)
and of course every race has SB's that need torp skills
cross training is a fact of life in EVE.
if you really hate it, make a neut or gang link naga and be quite :) or just fly a drake! :P |

It was supposed to be able to use Torps (bonus to Siege Launchers only, not Cruise Launchers) when I read about it first. That may have given it some semblance of a new niche for a Caldari ship...I guess that plan fell apart. |

In all fairness they should just make it like the ferox.. give it the ability to run missiles or hybrids. |

Not really, none of their ships use T2 heavies, or sentries, so that axes a few months of training time.
They have a single gun system to train for like every other race, and use missiles, like every other race.
They have only one tanking style to train for, every other race has to train both to be able to be competent in anything. (LOLSCORP doesn't count because you can skill for basic armor tanking in an afternoon, but it takes a month to be proficient in it)
You have one style of Ewar to train for, it doesn't require any more SP than tracking disruptors, and its effective in every situation, unlike tracking disruptors or damps, or even lolpainters.
Caldari don't even need advanced navigation skills to shine, the difference between IV and V for propulsion skills is negligable for a ship that started and ended the fight 100km from the enemy fleet.
Best T3 ship thats also the easiest to skill for, also the ability to train BS sized weapons while ignoring frigate sized ones (110m SP and I still don't have standard missiles to V despite cruise and torp all to T2 and spec IV)
I guess theres the "Grass is always greener" syndrome, but TBH, the reason I was switching to other races back 4 years ago wasn't because caldari sucked, its because at 25m SP, I could already do everything I ever wanted to (CNR,Rokh, Falcon, Drake) and had the ability to pick something else.
Glad I did, because it really gets interesting to have more options. I encourage everyone to do likewise. |

Heck yeah Caldari is skill intensive....mainly because you had to cross train Amaar to be allowed in any PvP fleets back when I lived in nullsec, LOL.
At this point I can use T2 shields, armour, energy turrets, missles, and drones...with both Caldari and Amaar BS at V. I never actually trained up hybrids to T2 because they sucked (in the eyes of the various fleet commanders I served under in those days).
I guess the real question is, why does anyone think the Naga will see any more use than Rokhs do today....just the price point? |

Megathron has missile hardpoint, as does Enyo and have you ever looked at the Eris?
Amarr have lots of missile ships as well as lasers.
If it was a missile ship you'd be crying it was too similar to a stealth bomber or a Raven or something. Stop crying and use it.
Having a "lol" hardpoint is a lot different than having your faction skill bonuses be tied to two different weapons skills.

I agree. Which is why you'll agree it's a good thing the naga was switched to a pure hybrid ship that has a use rather than split between a terrible torpedo ship that would never be used, and a terrible hybrid ship that would never be used. |
