Hey everyone.
Just started playing eve and running the Epic arc missions atm. Im having trouble with my ship. I could use some help with the loadout.
Current ship:
Rifter
3x 200mm Light prototype automatic cannon with EMP S rounds. 1MN Afterburner I Small Shield Booster I 'Langour' Drive Disruptor I Small Armor Repairer I Gyrostabilizer I
I dont know if im supposed to run this or go for a more ranged build or if up close is the best. whats your thoughts? |

I assume you are running the level 1 SoE Arc.
First off, don't tank both shield and armor at the same time. It just makes you terrible at both. Second, you don't really need a web on an AC Rifter for PvE. Small AC's track really well already and the Rifter has a tracking bonus. Try something like this:

Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I Small Nanobot Accelerator I Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Should fit with reasonable fitting skills (CPU Management V and Weapon Upgrades V). If not, drop the Anti-Explosive Pump for a fitting rig or drop the cap charger.
It won't have enough DPS to kill Dagan in the final mission so you will need to move up to a destroyer or get some help to take him down. |

Getting the skills for all that will take a long time, have around 128k skill points. Any suggestions to what to do in the mean time? or a less skill heavy-needed build? |

Well get training and seek out some help while you wait for skills. Fleeting up makes everything easier. Could also try dropping the Eutectic Capacitor Charge Array for an empty slot and switching the Small Anti-Explosive Pump for a fitting rig.
You are going to want fitting skills and whatever else you are missing to fly that fit anyway. Might as well train them now. The fits I gave are about as light on skill requirements as you can get without being truly terrible. |

Skip the last high slot. It won't help all that much and takes up fitting space you could use for other things. Without that, the whole thing should be trainable from scratch in less than 2 days. |

Thanks for the imput, i am training skills but have no implants (other than the three +1 u get from missions) and i dont rly have the ISK to buy better ones, looking at the rigs, just that part will take 12hrs+ is there any other missions i can run with my current setup in the mean time to get some cash? |

The NOS only helps on one mission and you can probably speed tank the rat in question without the AB. Since the guns don't use cap you should be just fine. |

The mission im currently stuck on is "Chasing Shadows" I need to kill "Kristan Parthus" and i cant deal enough dps against his Armor tanking. |

You could run normal level 1 missions in the mean time to get the hang of things and make a little ISK. Read up on the missions here before you run them. EVE University has a good guide on the SoE Epic Arc here as well. |

Someone will probably be happy to help out. EVE is a multi player game after all and gets very very boring if you only play by yourself.
Or try a Thrasher. |

Dagan dies easily enough to anything that does about 120 DPS. I think a bit over 100 DPS is the bare minimum to break his tank depending on the type of damage you are dealing. Anything more than 150 DPS and he will just vaporize.
That Thrasher fit does 217 DPS with my skills. With your skills it will deal a lot less. But probably still enough to kill him. For comparison the Rifter fit I posted does 92.9 DPS with my skills. Not enough. You could kill Dagan in a Rifter, but you would need T2 weapons to do it. |

you might find level 2s midly difficult with autocannons as u have to get down and dirty with the npcs.
A lot of PvE damage mitigation is in outranging the npcs.
Try artillery and an an afterburner and fly away from them while shooting. |

Don't have enough skills to mount 7 Artillary cannons with using the other stuff. if im gonna use Artillary i need to ditch the Shield Boost Amplifier, what should i change?
And the ammo im usin, Fusion S cuts the optimal range in half, what ammo should i use for artillery? |

This might be a lot to take in but I will try:
1. Projectile weapons (autocannon/artillery) are balanced to fight in falloff ranges, this means you will want to shoot at around optimal+50% of your falloff range.
For example: Your optimal is 5km and your falloff is +10km, a good range to stay at would be 5km+ 0.5*10km =10km
This is because of how falloff works, your damage doesn't decrease as much to start with but after a certain point will drop sharply.

2. All turrets have different versions within a size class. Small artillery has 250mm and 280mm versions. 250mm does less raw dps, has less range but has better tracking and lower fitting requirements.
As a new player fitting 7 280mm artillery will be next to impossible, try 250mms first. This applies to pretty much all ships in eve.
3. Different ammo have different properties, I would advise going through all of their "show infos" to get a good idea of what each one does.
In particular, projectile ammunition differ in several ways:

dont use too many modules for damage application as long as you set your keep at distance properly (as someone already said optimal+ 0.5*falloff) and you use said keep at distance button on the rat you shooting you will have no problem hitting him.
remember that during mission you can run away if the situation gets overwhelming.

When people talk about fitting, they're talking about powergrid and cpu, and the modules and rigs that affect these. Fitting modules or rigs are the ones that give you more powergrid or cpu.
Aditionally: Powergrid and cpu are referred to as fitting, because they govern what you can fit on a ship. |

I see, thank you, then my first question was wrong. So the new question would be: What is a good loadout for a level 2 or if possible level 3 Thrasher mission runner equiped with artillery weps? Or maybe any other Destroyer would be easier? |

I suppose some mix of damage rigs and rate of fire rigs wouldn't be a terrible idea, since the fit/loadout doesn't have any damage module. |

level 3 in a thrasher is harsh, i would say impossible with low skills now for missions i would think about going the missile way personally. but thats me u choose gunnery so let me see. Thrasher thats one thing i would use, pain in the butt with cap so, optimal range to use your guns is around 13km

In the game, if i hover over my weapons while in flight it sais "Falloff range within 18km" but if i rightclick and press show info, i have something called "Accuracy falloff 10,66km" what is the difference? |

The falloff range in the hover popup is the sum of your optimal plus your falloff range, showing you how far your falloff reaches, so you don't have to do math while flying.
The falloff in the show info window is the distance between where your optimal range stops, and your falloff range stops. |

Rigs not needs skills any more, its a bug from when they did.
The skills help reduce the penalties |
