Gallente Hidden Agenda

I adress this mostly to the caldari people, and any who may listen.
I was Born a citizen of the Gallente nation and as such was raised to beleive the gallente way was the only way, and that I have no path to follow accept that of what was laid before me.
NO! I will not stand by and allow my lifes choices to be dictated by those who beleive they know what is best for me, when all they know is what is best for there own greedy pockets!.
I have traveled the stars seen many sights fought many battles, I rose through the trees of knowledge testing each branch as i went and when i reached the top of the gallente tree I found a megathron. But it didnt feel like home, I soon began to climb the slave infested amarr tree and only found more of the disapointment when i wielded the burning beams of light that lit so many soals ablaze.
Thirdly the minmatar way, satisfying was the sound of an autocannons spray as it shreded an enemy's hull, but to many comforts of life and necessity have been forsaken on there path to freedom and i fear i will never be happy here either.
Several days ago, I was having drinks in a bar in a small out of the way spot deep in the Essence system where i met a man dealing in all ships caldari, and as unhappy as I was, I purchased a Ferox Class Battle Cruiser.....
I say this now ladies and gentlemen I have found my home, I have found my path , I have found my direction and reason to continue.
I have found the caldari way . Kassidus

You're "adopting" the Caldari way of life? Based on what? A few minutes flight time in a Ferox-class battlecruiser?
Let me be the first to say that I doubt you will find what you're looking for here. The Caldari State is not the place for those who wish to be free of governmental control. We place our trust in the CEP precisely because they do know what is best for us. We have survived this long because the State is free of the burden of endless bureaucracy that keeps the Federation from acting on any decisions it makes. And yet you claim to find a home here in the State when you know nothing of what it means to serve it. You are ignorant of our constant struggles against oppression, of what it is to be a part of something larger than yourself.
You may live here in the Caldari State, but you will never call it home.

Commander Teken'duis is absolutely correct. It sounds as though you've already flitted around between all the other major nations and have "adopted the Caldari way" simply because you've run out of options.
Your attitude shows little understanding of what it means to be Caldari. If you want to be an anarchist, go to zerospace with the other rats. Here in the State we value loyalty and service.

Calm your words Caldari.
Just because thy lost is born gallente, harshness is not necessary.
Kassidus, your mind is troubled. Weak. The self should search his path on the stars and other selves. Do not flutter with material possessions. They not replace blood. Do not fall into the traps of ignorance. Remember that ignorants have clouds in the mind. Ignorance is sorrow. Sorrow... -------

Kassidus, you must excuse my fellow Caldari brothers from the directorate, they are well known to be a faction of the stuffier side of the State. It is well known that in the Caldari State ability and results mean more than birth place or genetics, only in the State can a person be that they can be. As long as you pay your financial dues to the State and break no laws you will be accepted, if you actually strive to further the aims and betterment of the Caldari State you will be welcomed.
Some Caldari citizens forget the old saying,
Those that can, do.
Those that can't, talk about it.
Talk is cheap my friend, let your actions speak for themselves. I shall keep my eye out for you in Lonetrek.

What is the Caldari way? plz explain.
You can't adopt the caldari way of living. You are born as a Gallente and you could never be a caldari, just by proclaming that you suddenly are a caldari citizen or caldari.
I think you got to much to drink in that bar. And you as Gallente, should be the last people in the galaxy to say that. You rather want to see us dead and our mighty state fall apart in civil war.
You will never be a caldari or citizen of the caldari state.

Ah, it's a shame to see a brother leave our ranks, especially when he leaves in such a hasty and uninformed way. While personally I have no quarrel with the Caldari (there are some mighty fine Caldari out there, let it be said!) I believe that for a Gallente used to the unmatched civil and political freedom of our glorious Federation, you will find it particularly hard to adapt to the more rigid statues of the Caldari State.
That said I do not have anything against you seeking a different form of government - one of the freedoms open to you in our nation is of course the freedom to leave. However, I do not think a decision should be made solely on the way a Caldari ship flies.
Personally I find Caldari ship design and architecture to be bland, blocky and soulless (with the noteable exception of their positively beautiful Charon-class freighter), whereas Gallente ships are by the same token unnecessarily elaborate, lumpy, ugly and somewhat non-Euclidian until you get into battlecruiser sized ships or above - although Gallente station architecture is superb. I have to say however that Caldari emphasis on railguns is most wonderful, as they are superb weapons.
I myself have recently become enamoured with Minmatar ship design and their weapons - the pleasing KA-CHUNK of artillery cannons is music to my ears, as are the poignant blasts of Angel Cartel ships disintegrating. Minmatar station architecture, however, has a lot to improve on.
As for Amarr - well, if you know me at all you know my opinion on THEM. I personally like the fact that their well-designed and beautifully-made ships mean I never have to see their lying, cheating, arrogant faces.

His genetic origins are not my concern. My concern is that he professes to have adopted Caldari ideals while his words indicate he has little respect for, or even understanding of, what those ideals entail.
In fact, his "adoption" of the "Caldari way" seems to amount to nothing more than a brief infatuation with our ship designs -- and merely the latest in a long line of such flirtations, from the sound of it.
It is absolutely possible for people of other bloodlines to see the value of our ways and become loyal and productive members of the State. I have met several such individuals myself. Kassidus, however, is giving me no reason to believe he is one of them.

Edited by: Karl Mattar on 19/09/2006 21:23:31 One does not "adopt" the Caldari way.
A Caldari fits his or her role like a cog in a machine, and it is as natural to perform one's function and duty as it is to breathe.
If you have problems with your choices being dictated by others, my friend, you will not find your peace here.
A machine runs smoothly when all the parts are well-fit and properly placed. When one is out of alignment, it is crushed and spit out, to be replaced by one that works.
If you can live within our system, you will do well and thrive. If you can't, I'd suggest you keep on moving. Nothing to see here.

Not quite so... you will find my ideals very much different from the most of us. Yes, we may have a significant number of Patriots in the Directive, but not all of us are.
I personally find it quite amusing that one can claim to know our 'way of life' and 'being Caldari', by merely falling in love with our ship designs. Though, on mayhap another occasion, I might find this flattering, but this is ridiculous.
As the rest have said, you either are, or are not. It is not merely by blood, your genetics, or let alone be you were 'natural born', or a 'tube child'. It is merely to work for the betterment of the State.
If you are here to escape the dictation of those who 'believe they know what's best' for you, I fear you've found the wrong philosophy to subscribe to.
I suggest joining Jericho Fraction. ---------------

Ahhhh.... A fellow Exile from the Federation...
I personally have no grudge against the Caldari. In fact, Many of my best employees are from The State. As such, I only hope you know what your getting into.
Being a Citizen of the State means more than just flying around in Mass Produced Missile Boats, It means holding your own against Agressors. Fighting for your Freedom to be Independant from Agressors. The State is almost the opposite of what both you and I were tought to believe since Birth.
Luckally though, We do have the advantage of being Gallente as well. Being raised to accept others has tought us to look at other cultures without Judging them. I for example, Have learned the Wisdom of the Old Emperor's Teachings thanks to my friends in the CVA. You must learn all you can about these people, the Citizens of the State, before you attempt to become one of them, for the Caldari are more inclined to shoot you first, rather than accept you into their fold.

No matter where you go in space, you will find friends and enemies, every nation expects you to defend them, pay taxes to them and obey their laws. You will find support from the compassionate few, and rebuke from the cold heartless many. Loyalty is bought and sold with ISK. No matter your reason for staying, it does not matter you will be welcomed by some rejected by others and not even noticed by many. When you fight for the state, they will not assist you if you lose your ship in battle against their enemies for they care not for you but only for the result. Remember always that though your loyalty can be bought with ISK and big shiny ships, you will never ever be able to pay them through action and ISK enough to earn the loyalty of any state, for you are but a mere pilot among many many many more. I suggest you take advantage of that and adopt the hired gun mentality, go where they give the MOST isk for your work and fly any ship you choose. Pirates stole my signature. |

Race, bloodlines - they're all growing meaningless. With power politics growing, lines of loyalty blurring everyday, and people moving out of Empire space you get your friends where you can. You find trust in those who prove to be trustworthy.
I don't give two clicks if someone is from Intaki or not - I've met just as many lowlifes from Intaki as I have from Genesis. Show me your worth, not your race. [center]

Interesting thing here, that in all this discussion about society and philosophy, the one main point has been overlooked. If Kassidus wants to go to the Caldari state, let him, its his choice. And that is what the Gallente Federation is about, choice . You can live in the Federation, go, come back, no one forces you out at the point of a gun and no-one forces you back. The right to chose, the right to forge your own path is what makes the Federation.
