Edited by: Sgt Prozcoe on 20/09/2006 12:24:14 The last couple of weeks, Transquility server has been very unstabile. And I would like to hear, from the ccp, what exactly we are paying for? Is it the extra downtime with no warning? This has really started to annoy me as i pay about 15$ a month, for a game that doesnt work. I certainly dont hope you think this will go unnoticed with your customers.
Hope atleast 1 CCP related member will anwser to this thread.

Edited by: Gavin Larkin on 20/09/2006 12:29:30 I dont think the game is "broke", but I do think they need a longer DT, say two hours? It usually takes almost that long for all the nods to boot up fully anyway, so I say a two hour DT is in order. If they get the server up early, great. If not then its within that two hour window.

You know, someone in EVERY SINGLE MMO I have EVER played in makes a topic like this. You don't like it? Go play one of the other MMOs, and find out that it's like this in EVERY ONE. Nothing works perfectly, so either grin and bear it or GTFO.

don't like it? leave... it's that simple...
nothing is perfect... and we all make mistakes... a computer is only as good as his software... and software is only as good as his creator... and the creator is human... and humans do make mistakes... mis a peace of code, forget something...
and then there is still the issue that the only server that experiences heavy load is Tranquility... and that cannot be tested on any server... so plz stop whining, don't like it, leave...
Second sig removed, only 1 signature graphic please - Xorus ^_^WOOHOO!!! my Sig finally got nerfed... i'm 1337 now... |

exactly
there are problems with the gameplay in eve atm (like memory leaks) which need fixing - so they apply these hotfixes which can in return cause more problems (all you need is 1 typo in the hundreds of lines of code they have)
now would you rather play in :- A. Lagged out Bug ridden enviroment, but only a 1 hour DT B. Smoother Gameplay but having to wait for the server to come up for another hour
P.S They have stated we can expect these problems to last a couple of weeks

Ok, but how about the extra hour of DT is at a different timeslot? If you had the time to play every night of roughly 8:30pm until midnight, and DT was from 9pm until 10pm, how happy would you be with that concept?

Actually you pay to own an account, not to play on the servers. Read the EULA next time ;). -

Regardless of agreement, server errors and such.
I KNOW that computers break, software crashes, etc.
What at least needs to be done by CCP out of courtesy to the Eve customers is if a problem is acknowledged (which it is) to have a certain downtime, each day at a certain time or as much as needed, i.e. 4-5 hrs in 1-2 days or so (i.e. when the least amount of players are usually on) and work on the problem to fix it.
However, THIS TIME SHOULD BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE AND IN GAME VIA EVE MAIL OR ANOTHER MEANS IN ADVANCE!
Such a phenomena as "oh we'll have a downtime at random" is bad for the game image and plays on the nerves of all who have a couple of hours a day to play the game.
Noone wants to leave the game or do else, since we all have invested in this game, that's its main attraction. That is why downtime is acceptable, but please do it at reglamented hours that people are notified about ahead of time!
my more than 2 cents :)

everyday someone is on the forums whining about this **** lately..... go play a different dam game! Eve always goes through rough spots here and there, and it always gets over them! So maybe spend that extra time you have reading through a dev blog now and again, id much rather see ccp working on the code(which we know they are doing) rather than answering little whiners like you!

I also have multiple accounts.. .if you check my info ingame you'll see i've played this game for over 2 years... and yes there are issues.. but CCP are working on them thats why we have had these extended DT's the past couple of days.. best thing to do is to either set a very long skill and have a break for a couple of weeks (if needed suspend account) or just do what i'm doing and bear with it

Tsukari is dead-on, EVERY decently popular MMO has server problems from time to time, NO ONE likes it, and EVERY company does their damndest to fix it so they don't lose customers.
The last MMO I played had horrible DDOS issues about a year ago. Tons of RMT would DDOS the game's servers, to give themselves an advantage. This resulted in frequent instability. Once, every single server crashed at once due to it, and the only way to recover was to rollback to the last saved data of characters. I wound up losing about an hour's progress, which wasn't so bad, but I also had to re-travel through a dangerous area, which I could not by myself.
Really, if you think CCP is handling this so badly, why don't YOU try running an MMORPG? It's not exactly as simple as buying a box and plugging it in.
I can promise you that CCP, or the makers of any decent paid MMO, are not sitting on their asses while their servers fail. They're aware of it, and they're doing what they can to fix it, so stop complaining.

All we know that running a game like Eve isn't easy and that all the software made on the world are bugged but you can agree with me if I say there are different kind of troubles! I.e.: the bug freezing your pc for 5 minutes (I lost many ships for it) affects gameplay in a different way compared to the "warp sound bug". One heavy bug like that ruins heavily the ppl gameplay because EVE has a different gameplay: you can lose the isk earned in months in some seconds, we like this risky system but when it happens due bugs it is a really poor feeling. Ok you can petition it but this just adds a long wait (I waited even 2 months for one reimbursement) for having back your things... customers services should take never more than 24 hours like it was intended originally, specially when you are hit by a bug. IMHO this is the worst issue ATM.
So paying or not paying? I support this guys with my subscription but the lack of comunications with players is really bad. And something like "We are going to shutdown the server due issues... in 15minutes" like the other games, will be appreciated. At last, a colored bug status bar (red: bug reported, yellow: we are working on it, green: fixed) together with a real-time updated buglist will make me & my eve_friends happy. If we know what you (CPP) are doing we'll be aware of the time you should require and more details = more awareness and patience!
For ppl that r shouting sentences like "accept it as is or leave it", I'd like to say that these sentences are simply: barbaric, rude, discourteous and sorry I'm italian and I don't know other synonyms but I'd to continue for hours. This is a forum. Forum = open debate about one subject. Subject is "What we are paying for?". If you don't like the topic, nobody is forcing you to post here, if you are posting please remember what a forum is.

Eve is a game, imo by far the best MMO there has been or is currently available. I'm no Fangirl, and I've been affected by the issues since Dragon as much as the next person. The game lags atm - a coding issue. The Servers fall over - a coding issue. If you don't want to risk ship losses then do something else for a while. Open your door and see the sun, sit in station chatting to mates. Chill out, create an alt on same account and p1ss about - relax. What do you think CCP are doing about it? Sitting back talking about how much the glaciers are retreating? Or slaving away trying to sort out problems, clear petition backlogs? I wonder .
I'm sure CCP would love to be able to give their customers advance warning when the server b0rks up - but hey, guess their crystal ball is out of juice.
Go and play any other MMO and you will find the same thing everywhere. What you won't get is the chance to slap Chinese Macroers 1 minute, and be hunted by american pirates the next - cos the others are SHARDED. Eve also takes away all the boring Lvl grinding you get in others - hacking away at a tree for hours on end to get strength up? no thanx.
This has happened after other major patches, and we'll get the same after kali no doubt. it all gets sorted in the end.
Last point. We pay $15 per month. Thats 50c a day (30 day month)....what else can you do for 50c a day that provides as much fun as Eve does. You'd be lucky to get bar of chocolate for that, and if you put your mind to it that can be done in seconds!
So kids - moral of the story....get a grip, CCP are working on it, and flaming at them like this just shows your immaturity. If you don't like it, try out the competition. I've gone through my fair share of MMOs and NOTHING comes close to this.

1. If the server is up, I'd like to do what I want. If something doesn't work, I'd like a warning, an efficient real-time customers service at last. I have to do no bug hunting or resolving issues, I'm a customer. What I should do, however, isn't your matter, it is a bit impolite.
2. I wonder too. I'd like to know what they are really doing instead of use imagination. More details and more often.
3. Advising 15minutes before going down is a feauture they can implement just like some other games.
4. If other games don't work properly, it doesn't justify EVE from not running.
5. OT.
6. This make me think a lot. If after every major patch you get an huge amount of troubles, I think you have to review you application framework.
7. I pay 15Ç/month, yes so I'd like official answers to my questions.
8. Immaturity? A customer asked, "what Am I paying for?". It is a legitimate question. He was answered "for one account". Calling people "kids" and saying "go trying another game, go there, go here, go, go, go, go" is really rude, without counting you have zero authority and are just a normal user like me or the original poster. Episodes like these should be moderate.
