Edited by: Tharsgaard on 20/09/2006 12:27:39 Every time I turn on my ECM ( a cestus 1) my drones go for each other and dont stop, unless i pull them in. if I turn on the ECM then launch the drones it doesnt affect them, only if I turn it on while they are out. Is this as intended or bugged? As funny as it is to see them blow each other up its getting annoying!

If you're using ECM bursts, it'll do the same as a smartbomb, and trigger the drones to agro each other. -

an ECM burst effects EVERYTHING within its Radius and it fires like a missile launcher a new burst every N seconds....take the burst ecm off and fit something like a non radius effect like a ecm multispec

When you unload them, for a period of time they are just dummies, they won't do anything. After an initialization period (I'm guessing), they become active and responsive to commands. Hence, when they launch, they get hit, agro, and then get their commands given and they ignore the fact that you've attacked them. -

dont get me wrong im not arguing, but when i have the ecm on then launch the drones they can fight, come back and orbit and the ecm doesnt seem to affect them, only when i turn it on when they are already launched. just seems a funny way of working

Edited by: Grez on 20/09/2006 13:02:09 Edited by: Grez on 20/09/2006 13:00:56 It's because they are already agro'd to you, but ingoring it due to the last order you gave.
CASE 1 :- ECM ON, LAUNCH DRONES ECM ON DRONES LAUNCHED DRONES AGRO'D DRONES INITIALIZE DEFAULT ORBIT COMMAND GIVEN
The drones will follow the default order because it was the last one that was given. If you give an order, they will follow that, then return to their default order (orbiting you). They will not attack each other because they were agro'd before they initialized.
CASE 2 :- LAUNCH DRONES, ECM ON DRONES LAUNCHED DRONES ILITIALIZE DEFAULT ORBIT COMMAND GIVEN ECM ON DRONES AGRO'D
The drones will attack you or the other drones because you overwrote their last order.
If you order a orbit command, or attack command, they will follow that, then revert to their last order (attacking each other).
It's the same with NPC's. If you launch the drones after the NPC's are attacking you, they don't get the "agro" command. Whereas if you launch them, and then the NPC's attack you, they recieve it and go do their thing.
I've done countless tests with my friend in a stupidly fitted ECM Burst Caracel (which met its end to station guns after him trying to test my tank and turning on the ECM Burst), and this is how they seem to function from a client-side view of things. -
