Hello everybody,
I'm trying to start eve without admin rights to play eve on USB Stick. I've extracted everything onto. I can start the Launcher, but when i click "Play", the launcher wants to Install some Direct X for which I need Admin rights. Is there any way to disable the force - Installation of Direct X because I already have installed Direct X?
Thanks in Advance!

For some games, their launchers manage to resume if you kill the DirectX installer. Terminating the installer process is worth a try at least. |

what kind of computer are you trying to use that doesn't have DX? while skipping over might let it run, if the hardware (such as a dying ancient library computer or a misappropriated Werk-station) isnt up to spec, you might only be able to station trade |

This is the problem: the launcher will not start eve if you cancel the Direct X Installation.
I try to start on a Win 7 Enterprise with an i7 3630QM & Nvidia Quadro 1000M, all drivers are installed, other 3D Software that uses DirectX works fine.
Is there any Command that prevents the launcher to preload the DirectX Setup? |

No, because DirectX comes in 3 major variations: Dx9, Dx10 and Dx11 . Saying that you have "DirectX installed" is like saying "My house has a roof".
Dx9 has 43 versions, Dx10 roughly 18 versions and Dx11 has about a dozen. Having one of them isntalled is not enough for most applications and games as they use features which were only present in e.g. version DirectX 9.41.
You cannot bypass the installation of DirectX as the game requires the files to run. Even if you bypass the install, the game will not start. |

If it's the former, don't be a bumbass, do your assignments!
If it's the latter, best of luck with it, hopefully you'll get it sorted

Either way:
EVE will make registry files
EVE will install in the documents folder for stuff like logs etc.
And either way, you should be doing something else if you are that worried that you need it to launch from a flash drive.

Please be on Topic...
Direct X 11, 10 and 9 are installed and perfectly working. You can trust me, I tried it. I only want to get over the forced Installation which Forces the UAC to ask me for admin rights.
It is an Office CAD Laptop which I'm using on my Business trip actually. Due to some new IT Admins (that are new, and so overly scared to do something wrong) I'm restricted to "no-admin" accounts on my own Office Laptop.
Yes I know, I should've taken my own private Hardware with me, but I was thinking of the way that I don't Need admin rights and wanted to save some weight on flying.
So I am sitting in my Hotel room and figuring out ways to make the time go faster after work, and hoping anyone can help me :)
I also don't know why it is necessary to blame People before knowing what is going on. Why it is necessary to wish that i will be sorted out? I really thought the community of EVE would be more grown - up and better than WoW and such other MMORPG games....

This sound exactly like something tvat would happen to me. likely sitting in bed gritting teeth over the idiocy of it all. I feel for you man, wish I could help. I dont know hpw long your trip is, but you could download and use a linux disc, vm, etc. Be careful though, dont damage the hardware (easily done in linux by mistakes). |

thanks for "mentally support" :)
My trip is extended to start of february, so only 2 weeks left, In the local office there is hardly any work to do (I teach people some CAD Software and they're better than expected), and because of boringness i created a new trillal account on Eve because i Like the Space setting and the fact that the possibilities (and of course the risks) are big.
I wanted to try out the whole trial time the game, but unfortunately some rights are preventing me from this.
But I see it with humour, therefore I watch some Eve Lets Plays to fasten the amount of time in which I am waiting until i am tired and sleep in my hotel room.
I really like my RL, I like my work, so i sort my problem out as a "luxury problem" which is not really necessary to solve that I feel good, all I wanted is to fasten up some time. Call me a dumbass, but all I've got Information from Eve, i think the people which are really good in it and have much of ISK, they are also have all abilities to be good in RL. And this is the fact, which fascinates me so much about this game: that it is so similar with RL.
I'm sorry for my long post, but I'm bored a little bit :D

I used to play eve from a thumb drive at school many years ago. I had simply installed the game onto my personal PC, and then I just copied the whole EVE install fodler to my flash drive. Fro mthere i oculd just click the eve.exe in the folder and it worked fine.
Granted that was years ago, and they have shaken things up a bit so it might not be so simple anymore

Hey guys,
I'm glad to report that I've managed Eve to start and play without admin rights.
The DirectX Installation file (which the launcher wants always to run after you click "play") is located in the "bin" Folder inside the Eve installation folder.
I started Winrar and simple as it is --> I extracted the DirectXRedist.exe.
Then I got some files out of it, and I copied them into the Main Eve Installation Folder.
After that it will work.
Best regards, Michael |
