Seriously. Please. For the love of all that is holy can we make Overseer rats, more specifically the sentries in 8/10s or similar less horrible.
There's a difference between challenging PVE, actual Eve PVE and Overseers. Overseer sentries take upwards of 1.6k dps to even take any real hits. So you basically need 3 people shooting at it to do even anything. The rat might as well not even attack since it does all of 70 damage per shot.
Once you clear the site itself, you just sit there for 15 minutes orbiting this ****** structure while you chip at it. It's just a giant pain in the ass for what? 60 million because the drop chance for something good is terrible?

@EDIT: No. And no, it should never be possible.
They at least drop something for you, consider yourself lucky. I've run some 80 Angel 8/10s and only 15 dropped something next to the OPE. The same goes for Serpentis 8/10s, where I have run some 60 and only 20 dropped more than the OPE. Do I complain? No, I don't see a need for them to drop more as it would just ruin the prices, which is already happening. Do I see the structure shooting as work? No, drones shoot all day long from a distance where the stations don't rep anymore. *hinthint*
How would you make them less terrible? How about an actual suggestion. I know, you are in TEST and together with BRAVE, but that condition does not justify topic with such a severe lack of information, which in turn could very well be seen as a rant and rants are prohibited in this forum. So?
Moreover, what is wrong with bringing a couple of mates with you? Aren't you supposed to be an uber-social bunch of people? |

I usually get absolutely nothing. I had insane luck to get even 300 mil-ish. 2/3rds of the time I get nothing and waste both my time as well as that of good friends.
Edit: Also yeah, consider that a rant. I've also petitioned a very confused GM about them being terrible before so I may be unreasonable when it comes to them.
Double Edit: Also, frankly, massive buffer would be preferrrable to reps. I'm perfectly fine with the site taking lots of my time, but I hate having to waste the time of friends by making them sit there for what is more of ten than not 20 million isk. |

So, people only socialize with you when they get a reward for it. Or they only undock when there's a reward in prospect? |

Nah, they joined me to help. I just felt terrible for wasting their time. It's more me having an issue with wasting their time than them having an issue.

How exactly are you wasting their time? They socialize with you, they help you out, they are in space rather than in station spinning ships, they create the potential for PVP by being in space, they make money both with you and with whatever else they do, they use their space, etc pp. How is that "wasting their/your time"?
I am fully aware of that I take this very far off topic. If that's a problem for you, just let me know and I stop. |

Nah, don't worry about it. Also I was rather frustrated when I wrote the opening post if it wasn't clear.
The "wasting time" thing largely annoyed me more than anyone else. I just feel like they could have been doing something more productive. One of the people helping me was the corp CEO and the other was a poor-ish newbro. The CEO can just siphon off the corp wallet so he got diddly squat, but I'd have felt terrible for asking a newbro to sit for 15 minutes staring at nothing while waiting for the thing to die.
It's more of a perception/subjective thing really. Time was spent doing what is essentially a glorified DPS check that could have been spent doing other, far more profitable/interesting things. |

The bigger issue with DED sites is the devaluation of the loot via the escalation buff. I just checked the Jita price of Pith X-Type EM Ward Field and Core X-type Explosive Hardener. 93m and 121m respectively at the moment of this post. Either people really need to ramp up consumption of these, or more variety should be added in the loot tables so that the market is harder to saturate. Ninja plexing as a profession must be suffering a bit.
The complexes themselves are fine; it's just the payouts need review. |

With the exception of bounties and the sale of items for which there exist NPC buy orders, the "payout" of any complex, be it a DED site, combat anom, or mission, is entirely driven by the player market. Adjusting the payouts means either ramping up player demand (which CCP has no real control over) or decreasing the drop rate of high-value items. Lower supply + constant demand = higher prices which would increase the payout for some folks, but decrease it for others.
Be careful what you wish for....
To the OP: The whole "high reps vs high buffer" discussion with higher-end DED sites is not new. CCP made certain Overseers that way on purpose so that you needed to bring friends. If you're worried about wasting time shooting something that won't drop any loot, I suggest bringing a cargo scanner (for structures, for ships your outta luck).

EDIT: Does anyone know if you can assign fighter bombers into dedsites? Because that would make it less cancerous.
EDIT 2: 15 minutes later it at least dropped a B-type large rep and a faction EANM. Things could be considerably more awful.
Seriously. Please. Just get some friends.
Making people sit in space for longer to get bacon is not a bad thing. It adds some risk to what is otherwise a totally manageable and easy thing to complete. Or, you can cooperate with others and get your bacon faster.
As for complaining about the Overseers Personal Effects - I'd rather get 80m guaranteed than nothing.
Frankly, the problem with most complexes is that they are too easy - the Blood Raiders ones are the ones that are the most challenging. If the only thing challenging about a complex is that you need to bring two friends (or alts) and you cannot even be bothered to do that, perhaps you need to rethink your approach to the game.

Wasting their time? Show me another way someone can make a guaranteed 80m ISK (not counting all the other bounties), with a chance at up to 2B, more in fifteen minutes. Even split three ways, that is still great ISK/hour.
I've never had a problem getting a friend to help me run a complex. I've never turned down an offer to help someone, unless I was PVPing and the complex was in a stupid location. It's just about as far from being a waste of time as you can get.

2 Bil is kind of silly as a suggested "max" value. The most I could conceivably see is 1 bil, and that's assuming you get a B-type EANM and Nightmare BPC or something equally unlikely. You're much more likely to get something hovering at 80-160 mil depending on what faction stuff (if any) drops.
Also, the point I'm making is that the sites are indeed too easy. The only "challenge" comes from an arbitrary DPS check. It'd be the same as just saying "Do you have 3 T3s, 3 Ishtars or 2 Marauders. Ok have ISK." They should add challenge to the rest of the site, or at least have the overseer do more than 70 damage per hit.
