Tried? EVE Online Windows Installer via BitTorrent Should be able to hit 10 MB/s download with a good connection to my seedbox.
My home connection is slower: 3 MB/s down, 1 MB/s up (25/10 Mbit/s VDSL - I'm too cheap to pay for 50/10). |

well I get up to 7.5 MB/s down and up to 2.5 MB/s up.
I have VDSL2 from Transact which fibre to the node and the rest is copper cable.
And that is here in Canberra Australia
So Australia Internet is not that bad

We have 100/40 fibre to the house.
It will be very hard to go back if I ever move.
Meanwhile - while Australia has decided 20Mb is "good enough" for a country that basically mines coal, I read somewhere Japan and Korea are both looking at upgrading from their100Mb to 1000Mb.

Then after you have a cry, go ask your government why they haven't run a cable to Japan. 100Mb fibre to the house (same system Google just rolled out to 32 US cities) But I am in one of the very few Aussie towns that got proper internet before a change of government and a new "5Mb is all you need to download photos of your daughters playing netball" policy was introduced. Our current government seems under a fantasy that "new technology" will give high speeds over WWII vintage copper phone lines that play up when it rains :D The only downside for me is I cannot ever move from my current town without potentially facing a huge drop in bandwidth. That is still speed. Has something changed? Is Australia properly connected to the world or do you have a latency problem?
I am in the UK. Ping 168ms to Reno, California Ping 307ms to Sydney, Australia

Just upgraded today actually. Now getting 240 Mbps Down and about 30 Up (Ireland). Bundled with unlimited phone and adequate TV for 45 Euro p.m. UPC.
Not really sure why I upgraded though.

Do a pathping to 87.237.38.200 which should be in London... not to Iceland.
My ping times is almost at ~300ms; Twitchy Valk or Legion will not be really great for me. 'Casual' EvE is really awesome for me, so in a way its a perfect standard for a global MMO. Speedtest results are not really reliable since default test parameters point to servers near your location.

Guys its not about the speed. 20M connection is well more than enough. Its a quality of the connection that does matter and this is getting worse and worse every year.
This needs to be addressed and not the connection speed!

There is such thing as "capping" your net, it slows it down but makes it more stable if anyone wants that. Also, with ADSL lines you can request that you sacrifice some down speed for some up speed. This helps if you upload a lot of images video, chat on video and voice while playing.

19 M/s d/l 65.67 Mbps u/l 6.37 Mbps With 12 eve clients logged in. EDIT : 99% uptime 40 bucks a month. I used to log in over 5 EVE Clients and run them simultaneously, multi-clients on the same one box. I could have used multiple box on top, adding the same cost as the one box cost, incrementally. I never tried it yet. One place offered me to do it for the same price as for one box depending if there was no-one else using it.
I can now barely use 1 or 2 client, and the 1 m/s ping is not continual, that rate is the best case scenario. More often than not, the systems, stalls, the cursor stalls, and there is 3 seconds to 7 seconds of interruption. More than enough to die. I hunt pirates for a living and gather intelligence on pirate activities, like in the pirate thread.

thanks :-)
When my connection work as intended (99% of the time) I'm at 80/80Mbit/s, so that's 10MB/s, 6GB would take me 10.24 minutes provided the server could service that 10MB/s. (assuming the old standard of 1024MB = 1GB)
I live in Denmark, got fiber connection. |

I still got old potatoe copper wiring here but they get the job done downloading at 198 Mbps. They are now talking some stuff about converting over to viber, there will not really be a difference in speed I was told, only in price and you have one guess in what direction that will go. |
