How many t2 fit Catalysts would it take to Gank a Stratios in a 0.5 system. The Stratios is fit with 3x Large shield extender 2s, 1 t2 em rig 1 t2 thermal rig, 1 extender rig2 and a dcu2. Thanks |

Considering a gank t2 catalyst can put out shy of 600 DPS at max skills, the math works out to about 4 catalysts shooting for the full 19 seconds to deplete shields before CONCORD blaps them. This is *just* for the shields and doesn't take resists or regen into account...so you're looking to maybe 10?
Of course, this is considering the pilot is completely AFK.
Disclaimer: this is pure theorycrafting ...if you'd like to waste catalysts on trying (and failing), go right ahead. |

Step 1: Ship scan & put the targets fit in EFT to compute EHP Step 2: Use this chart to figure out what type of gank ship (and how many) are needed to splode it, in a given sec-status system Step 3: Boom

It sounds like you have a silly grudge against someone \o/ Show us where on the doll the naughty stratios pilot touched you
You'll want around 10 catalysts if the pilot is AFK. If the pilot is not AFK, good luck. |

3 Cats with max DPS can be maybe enough. If you have 4, better 4. One with Scram, other with Fleeting Prop`s to jam its speed down.
The max DPS Cat is not 600, its 740 DPS with Implantats and Overheat.
Its always good and right to gank Stratios, do it!

Use gank Thorax's, you'll catch him off guard.
If he see's a sky full of Cats he's bound to get suspicious.

If the fitting information you've provided is correct and complete, he would only have about 44.5k EHP against 50/50 therm/kin damage with max skills according to pyfa. (if he has an adaptive invuln in a midslot on top of this, it changes dramatically, though)
Given concord's response time of 19 seconds in 0.5 we'll play it safe and use 18 seconds for the damage calc. A highly skilled tech2 fit catalyst without implants can do about 666 dps overheated. 18*666 = 11988 damage per catalyst. Again, playing it safe, so we'll make that 11k. Would probably use 5 cats like Piz Caldera said, even if 4 might be able to do it.
It's important that all the cats stay within their optimal range for the full duration of the gank, and that they all start firing simultaneously. |

The issue is not just how many Catalysts it takes to gank the Stratios, but how you are going to get that many Catalysts 1km away from something that isn't an AFK no-prop mining barge and keep them there for 20 solid seconds without giving up the game before everyone gets in position.
Basically I hope you know how to combat probe / this guy is kinda dumb. |

it depends alot about the Stratios Pilot and the right or wrong reactions.
If he knows, that you like to kill him, its getting difficult. If he is a pro-player, watching constant dcan and knows what to do with some Cats warp in, the chances are not so high to get him.
Try to find and locate him in the 0,5, belts, anomalies, missions, etc., there where you go with a stratios. use dscan or combat scanner probes. If you found him check what he is doing. Moving or not. Not moving, instant warp-in with the cats or use a cloaky and go next to him and do the warp in. If he is moving, you could try to warp with 1 cat in, lock him, or go suspect or make him angry with something, play with him.. As soon as your in range, launch the other cats fleetwarp. Another idea is to use Ion T2 Cats, there you can fit additional the afterburner + full DPS Fit with 3 Magnetic Field II and 2 Rigs. Disadvantage is the lower range and abit less DPS (ca. 50 Less) and there you have really to scram and jam him hard.
I ganked til now 6-7 Stratios solo in T2 Cats, 2 i got bombed out in anomalies, the other i failed, solo its really difficult. If there are more Cats and the Stratios pilot get surprised, the chance is good. The usual Stratios Pilot in Hi is lazy and in the easy missions, anomalies etc i found 80 % of the Stratios not moving or just slowly, also at least 50 % of the fits are complete failfits...But your enemy has got a mighty tanky fit.

Also, against a shield tanked ship, check for an em hole. If its big enough ac thrashers can be better than cats.
