so i was reading the CSM minutes where it says that only fanfest attendees will be permitted at the event. Let me first state that i understand where ccp is coming from with that, in that fanfest and by extension the PATOW, is first and foremost for capsuleers. However as a past fanfest attendee, 2013, and someone who has already booked for 2015, i feel that having local character in the event is beneficial. Many of us who meet mix and mingle in the city and some of us are even lucky enough to have lasting friendships with locals in Reykjavik. It would be a shame for this to be diminished by us not being able to party together. I therefore ask for a compromise that allows for a more "intimate" spaceship experience, and allows the more social among us to maximize our friendship experiences.
Keep the Party at the Top of the World restricted to capsuleer access only, with the caveat that locals will be permitted entry if escorted by a capsuleer. |

Having the locals at the Party At The Top Of The World was cool last year.
Edit: I've taken a look at the minutes and I could not see reference to that? Where are you looking?

Having locals at the party was pretty much the only thing that balanced out the guy to girl ratio last year. I dread to see what this year will be like

fanfest 14 was amazing, tbh I don't think I was even thinking about eve by the time the party rolled around, and I thought the crowd in the party room was pretty much perfect. I kept managing to make my way up to the front for each set too. All I'll say is one of the shots from the twitch stream shows me having a great time
I'll join the chorus asking CCP, don't take my fancy names away from me!

Hey!
The party won't be void of local presence but we won't be selling tickets to the party this year specifically as we've done in the past. We will be inviting friends and family though so it'll be a nice mix I'm sure :)
I think what we're planning will be a great time.
Historically the party has spanned the whole spectrum from the small parties of old with only Fanfest attendees to the giant party in Laugardalsh+Śll with '2 many DJs' where we sold 4000 tickets and turned the Party at the top of the worldd into one of the biggest concerts of the year in Iceland. Last year we sold a couple hundred tickets to outsiders so it's not like it was a huge addition or a big supplement to the Fanfest budget.
Tl;dr - you will see some locals this year and the party will be a lot of fun

Totally against this idea. I was there in 2014. The party being open but having an area with Eve players and devs only was a perfect balance. Yes we go for fanfest, but it's a trip to Iceland too, if you don't meet the locals you miss half the experience.

I think this will be the fifth time I visit fanfest. The fact that it takes place in Iceland is important to me. Having locals at the party gave the event local flavor which I really enjoyed. Opening up is probably also good for the event and for CCP. Acceptance of a community is higher when you can mingle with them and make an opinion for yourself. However, you know the locals better than I do
For me, the party would be nicer with locals.
On the internet, you can be whatever you want to be. It is amazing that so many people chose to be stupid.

I always tell people how they should throw their parties, especially if I'm invited. I wouldnt' want to attend a party that doesn't meet my specifications.
When I'm invited to dinner, before I accept I always ask, "What are you having?"
Dont fight it; Rejoin your Amarrian patriarchs; You know you want to.
