One of the problems with the Item hanger is when purchasing new items (particularly when purchasing items in other stations where you already have a lot of items in your hanger). Now if it's a single item or two that's not as much of a problem, but even still it would certainly be quite helpful if 'recent purchases' was either a filter or a category within the Item Hanger, to help us locate such items. This could show us items which have been purchased from the Market (or perhaps otherwise entered our item hanger) within the last 24 hours or so.
------------ Extraneous exposition follows ------------
Yes, this is an Item Hanger organization post. It is an idea that isn't part of any identifiable discussion within the last few pages of posts or something found in a reasonable search.
But feel free to point me to a current open discussion on this topic as I've been unable to locate one. Perhaps my search terms are inadequate. And please do not point me to the topic post that came only minutes after my previous post, has NO discussion it, is almost intentionally similar to an existing item hanger mechanic (unlike my idea was), and is for some reason not locked. The timing of that post and the obvious reporting of my earlier (and from what I can tell original idea) post as being redundant is suspicious.
Now if you can dig up a thread which has the idea of making the Market item organization tree as part of our Item Hanger that is less than a year old (let alone exists), and isn't buried in some other idea post, I'll be impressed. You'll have put way more effort than should be reasonably expected of forum participants to engage in before giving CCP your ideas. Ideas I can assure you, as a business trying to lure and retain customers, they WANT to have, and do not want participants to be dissuaded because it could have been brought up at some point in time over the last 10 years.

I'm going to give you a heads up remove that second half of your post or this is going to get locked for ranting/ discussing ISD moderation.
now on to the idea i have seen this come up before within the last few weeks but i'll leave it to someone who can find it to deal with that one.
as to the idea why is it needed your "Explanation" was just a rant about forum locking.
what is wrong with the search function in the item hanger or since you said this is a problem with buying things in stations that you already have a lot of items in why not store everything in cans that way all new items are placed outside the cans
also just because your idea is different than another it is the same topic (hanger management) and as such should just be placed in an already open hanger management thread

I didn't even consider the "rant" aspect. All I noticed in the second half was the "reposting a locked thread" aspect. |

The search feature has its uses. And so do containers. However, containers are not something that new players are aware of, or even easily become aware of with relative ease.
At any rate, this is an idea about quality of life and ease of use for EVE Online players. The kind of stuff CCP loves to continually improve on.
---------- More extraneous jibber-jabber (feel free to pass by) -----------
If the alleged recent thread on this topic is so easily identifiable, then why is it so difficult to locate?
One should only be expected to do a search of reasonable terms related to what they are thinking and if they see a current (less than a few months old) thread on the topic, then perhaps necro it if they have some other input, or want to lend their support to the idea. (As it's been claimed that the Devs want to see what support an idea has.)
In any case, just because an idea is related does not mean it belongs in the same thread anyhow. Not all inventory management ideas need to be lumped into a single thread if they are different ideas on how to handle inventory management.
As to the 2nd half of my original post. I identified the part that was unrelated to the idea so that those who wanted could avoid reading through it. (Like this section)
The ISDs are welcome to lock the thread over it, however I think it's of value to these forums and these discussions. I don't see any place to engage in a dialog with the ISD's. Presumably we are to 'report' such grievances. And what does that do? Get someone in trouble or their wrist slapped? I've read the rule related to this and the spirit behind it is clearly stated. None of that is happening here (flaming, trolling, or baiting).
I had a thread locked for presumably being redundant, and yet I can find no such thread that it's redundant with. Even if there was one that had some other inventory management idea, that post (and this one) may both be unique from those ideas and deserve their own threads. As a reader I don't want a unique idea on a topic buried pages deep in some other idea on a topic. It would be like locking every 'New Ship' thread because there is already a thread about some other new ship. In any case, I think it's appropriate to ask for a link to whatever thread one's idea post is claimed to be redundant with.

New players don't have enough possessions to warrant sorting systems, much less containers.
As for things that new players aren't aware of, why are you against them learning about things on their own? Why do you keep insisting that new players are helpless little baby birds who must have their meals pre-digested for them? Why aren't you trying to encourage new players to learn and challenge themselves, to challenge their own thoughts and to learn their limitations so that they can then proceed to shatter those limitations and become, at least in pixel-space, the demigod they deserve to be? Why do you keep insisting that we need more and more things that serve only to weaken, hinder and disempower players, both newbie and veteran alike?

These are questions best put to CCP.
I imagine you've noticed their continuing efforts to make this game easier to understand and to interact with and to learn. That has nothing to do with "dumbing it down". People still have all the same options, choices, and decisions to make with knowledge they've gained about the game.

CCP isn't in this thread and I'm not asking them. You, however, are in this thread and very much are the person I am asking.
