The Uprising is over, powerful mercenary captains dominate whole planets as Warlords, taking to orbit in makeshift or stolen Warbarges, waging perpetual war in Molden Heath. You are one of these Warlords, or aspire to become one.
On February 3rd, Warlords 1.0 arrives, bringing new gear, community-requested updates, and a new key feature that expands your ability to rise in power in the DUST 514-« universe. These include:
- The Mercenary Warbarge - Warbarge Subsystems - New Faction, Quafe and Officer gear - Improved Visuals - Multiple additions based on community feedback
Read on! :)

I would have to say with a roadmap going up to 2016 for Dust and an expansion of the Eve link to Dust coming in 2015 that the PC version is on ICE.
At this point I think we are more likely to see Dust coming to the PS4 than Legion ever coming out.

Glad to see EVE players being updated on the status of DUST. It's amazing to see just how many believe that DUST is dead, when in fact it's honestly the healthiest it has ever been.

Yeah but I could have sworn that CCP came out and said that DUST will end and that development efforts would be focused on the PC based Legion? I really don't want to have to try to find it to get a quote as the search system for the forums and website completely suck but I'm a little confused, if they aren't planning on continuing a game in favor of a better iteration on a different platform then why the continued development cycles on new features for it? |

Actually they said that they were moving development to PC and that DUST wouldnt receive any major updates for the foreseeable future... Well the foreseeable future turned out to be almost a year and now there is progress.
Personally i think now we will continue to see some development in DUST what is a mystery however is what is happening to project legion. At some point in the next few years a product will be needed to replace DUST on either the PC or PS4 or both. I would love to see Legion become part of EVE, as in part of the client and seemless like expanding the scope of the room that is walking in stations. So you land at a staging ground on a planet and pop out of your ship in a drop suit and hunt/join a battle. |

I would love to see Legion become part of EVE, as in part of the client and seemless like expanding the scope of the room that is walking in stations. So you land at a staging ground on a planet and pop out of your ship in a drop suit and hunt/join a battle. I think I have a better idea of what happened, as a player of DUST who frequents the forums and is connected to a lot of people of the community as well, including the CPM. This is basically common knowledge around the DUST forums.
The original heads were incompetent, they really, really were. It was reminiscent of a baby studio like the old CCP Iceland before they put their big boy pants up after Incarna. The game was in a huge mess, and the team behind just seemed to make very very little progress on fixing the multiple pain points that would honestly be unacceptable in any other studio and game. Then came along CCP Rouge, who was hired to clean up this mess, and decided that in order to do it right they would need to start over. However, instead of starting over on the PS3, he decided that his vision requires better hardware, so he looked at PC's (and PS4, since they're both x86) and their (now commonly) 8GB+ of RAM.
And so they worked on this little project, while keeping everyone in the DUST community starved for knowledge for a good 8 months, not knowing what the hell is going on, while saying that "Something big is going to happen at FanFest". Then came FanFest, and everyone in the DUST community, who had their expectations inflated for something grand for DUST 514, something that would fix the game they put up with for more than a year in hopes of it getting better like EVE in its early days, got pissed (Understandably). When a game promises a 10 year life cycle on a consoles, you expect that their next gen version would come to the PS4, not just PC. Console gamers tend to stay on consoles, even if they also sometimes get a gaming PC eventually (Like myself). However, since this is in project status and isn't actually classified as a commercial product yet, they couldn't come up to Sony and say "Hey guys, we want to have this game on the PS4, that cool?", and so they couldn't announce anything at all for the PS4, leaving everyone in the DUST community pissed.
And so, CCP Rouge appointed CCP Rattati to at least clean up some of the mess that the original DUST team left. He was given a small team, and together their job was to basically do whatever they can to make DUST as good as they can, within the limits of the content streaming system. It basically meant no code changes, no patches, just hotfixes that contain number changes from the SDE.
Rattati released three successful hotfixes, and showed that even with limited resources and under a limit of what he can do, the game could be in a much, much better state than what the original team left it in with comparatively endless resources and no limits. >He has proven his competence.< And so, since the community approved of him, and the game was in a much healthier state, people started purchasing more Aurum, making the game profitable. CCP Rouge saw that, and decided to give Rattati slightly more staff and greenlight a full blown patch. This only increased DUST's growth, and even made a lot of people who previously quit return to the game.
And this is where the story ends. Since then, the team has released another hotfix plus a mini hotfix, and is now releasing Warlords 1.0, the first expansion to the game since Uprising screwed everything. The game's future looks bright, some people are even speculating that it's going to be ported to the PS4 and remain as the PvP centric side of ground combat, while Legion would be the PvE centric version. This is pure speculation however, we have no evidence of this at all except for the deafening silence about anything new for Project Legion, and the growth of DUST 514.

There are three Devs working on DUST, and they are doing amazing things.
No one knows what the rest of the people in the Shanghai Office are doing. They may have taken the 3 hour tour and ended up stuck on a deserted island for all I know. So anything said about the life or death of Legion would be pier speculation at this point.
What it appears is happening is that DUST is finally paying for its own development, so now we are getting nice things. I would assume that the R&D budget is still going into Legion, but again that is just speculation.
I will say though that DUST did not really come alive until it was proclaimed to be dead, so maybe saying the Legion is dead is not a bad thing. |

... but what you are describing would be an EVE announcement.
I have raised that possibility before. I consider it a long shot. A very long shot. But I would laugh my ass off if it happened. |
