No its how the ship sizes and strengths compare to you. He was in a covert ops frig. All the frigs are either easy or medium, the cruisers and battleships are red for hard.
Or it could just be a replacement for the old different sized brackets to show ship class.

So if you find someone on your scanner you can instantly warp to him? Hm that means many new ways to harass mission runners both in low- and high sec.
And is this content static? If yes, then we will see something like this on escrow(or contract): "All hidden places in Essence 4000BM, 100mill isk"

you can do that already

Sometimes you can, but sometimes it is genuinely not possible as the probes do not scan in a sphere, but more of a 'fat pancake'. Obersvators do not always help, given their somewhat random nature.

Some "outside the box" thinking makes it easy and have little to do with luck.

may question may already have been asked, but would it be possible to perhaps use the particle system to display actual glowing dots in space to signify location of scanned objects at the time of the scan? roll-over gives details (in form of vertical column with colour IDs) and the actual dot gets larger and brighter based upon how many found objects are contained in that particular location. (a fleet of ships or an engagement in progress would actually look like a bright spot within the system, giving all the coded details on rollover.

I agree.... they should use fraps to show the zooming around and stuff. Would be very cool. Im sure they already know how fraps works since most of them are pirates anyway, and probably are making movies now and then... --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

While the blog shows you can warp to them, I would expect this to be the same as in the current scanning system, i.e. you can warp to them, but with some deviation based on chance and what type of probe you're using. So you're not going to be able to just throw up an observator probe and warp right on top of any ship in the system.
The previous blog on the new scanning talked about introducing more factors to affect detection and accuracy, such as the sig radius of your scan target, what combination of probes you use etc. Given that the "deadspace signatures" are also presumably assigned a sig radius, this brings up the possibility of having some low-value, easy-to-find ones, and some high-value ones that need some seriously good scanning to pin down. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

These deadspace signatures won't be static, you can read more about it here.
Or here:
We are creating a distribution mechanic that will deploy hidden locations throughout space, pockets which will move to new locations when they feel like it, but dependent on what the pilots are doing in the world. With this Exploration system, players of all types will be able to strike gold, hit the jack pot, find the golden pot under the rainbow or what ever someone might call it.

I hope it is not. That would be pretty useless information IMO. Easiest to assume (and what I hope) is that green are friendly and red hostile.

Thx for your conformation. And I have to say that this is the right approach! But some other question: - Are these locations farmable? Like finding a good spot and farm it till it disappears? - Will the old deadspace complexes (except cosmos) stay ingame or will the be removed?

EVEN IF IT DOESN'T HAVE WARP TO BUTTON IT'S STILL FAR MORE ACCURACTE THAN SAYING A SHIP IS WITHIN A RADIUS OF 32 AU IT SAYS ITS 32 IN THAT DIRECT THEN YOU CAN SIMPLY WARP TO ALL BODIES NEARBY
sorry for caps
Both stories talked about something that made me believe he was talking about using scan probes. Using a covert ops, etc. I'd bet that these screenshots were done using scan probes. ---

It might, but it's not consistent. The cruisers and battleships are all red, and some of the frigates are yellow and some are green. I'd guess it denotes standings, with green meaning positive, yellow neutral and red negative. ---
