Greetings.
Need help in why my PC goes to the blue screen of death while in game.
Is there any idea's i can try to keep it from happening?
I already dropped the graphics to "performance" level. But if it game related wouldn't the game shut down not my PC?
Thanks to those that reply. |

Sounds like overheating. Open the case up and blow it out with canned air. Make sure to clean all fans especially any on the vid card.

Operator error.
No srsly the problem is likely with the os your using. Run the basic virus spyware scans then run the os repair function to repair your system

first do the cleaning stuff. in 90% of these cases where you have constant bluescreens on load it's overheating. |

This is the most correct answer posted so far :) OP, start there.
Also consider grabbing a utility like GPU-Z to watch the temp sensors on your video card. |

One other possibility is damaged motherboard/memory/other critical component. So, your computer might already be on its way out.

Or, before you waste time doing something that might not be necessary, look up the stop code that is displayed on the BSOD and see what actually caused the crash. Find a solution to the actual problem instead of just guessing and using trial and error to find a fix.

Grab the stop code next time it happens please, it's in the format of '0x00000000' with last digits being numbers or letters, try to also find the faulting module, usually a file which ends with .sys or .dll. This info will help to narrow it down. |

Search your computer for a dmp file. They are normally located c:\\windows. Then upload it to a dropbox and provide us with a link.

Here are some instructions to turn off auto-restart on BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/automatic-restart-windows-7.htm BTW - what version of Windows are you using? You'll probably find out you've got a bad DIMM (memory module) and you have the problem in-game as the client starts to use more memory, then hits the bad chip on that module. - That is my best-guess anyway :) |

The same thing has been happening to me since the last Eve update, BSOD all the time when running Eve. To Solve this, i cleaned my registry by using ccleaner (google search it), and cleared my Eve settings and cache.
Hope this helps

Unfortunatly there is not quite enough info to figure out whats wrong. As stated though, the possibilities include:
Virus infection choking out ram video card driver crashing bad stick of ram bad sector on hard drive bad hard drive bad motherboard bad video card bad power supply corrupted file over heat broken fans grimlins
easy steps:
1) check all your fans, make sure thy are working when the pc is on
2) blow the dust from all the fans (this is less likly to cause a BSOD, usually overheat just shuts off)
3) update your video card drvier
4) run chkdsk and see if your hdd has bad sectors
5) search for memtest86 and run that to test memory
6) if you have a spare video card swap your current one for that and see if that helps
7) when yoru screen bsods get a picture of the bsod, will make id'ing the exact issue easier.
8) drop kick pc
past that it gets complicated. Your first thing you need to do is identify your stop error. That will lead you to your next course. I recommend running memtest as that is the quickest and easiest to eliminate as an issue.
Good luck.

this. in California when i was a freshmen (in 95) we had to take a basic computer and finance class. How to write papers, basic spreadsheets, and how to balance a check book. It would be a simple thing to do very basic pc diags and repairs, hell they could even do it as an elective to high schools can come out with basic knowledge to help get jobs. But meh

Why would you go through the trouble of doing #1-6 before doing #7? That's a lot of time and effort spent doing things that may not have anything to do with the actual cause of the crashes. |
