Virus infection choking out ram video card driver crashing bad stick of ram bad sector on hard drive bad hard drive bad motherboard bad video card bad power supply corrupted file over heat broken fans grimlins
easy steps:
1) check all your fans, make sure thy are working when the pc is on
2) blow the dust from all the fans (this is less likly to cause a BSOD, usually overheat just shuts off)
3) update your video card drvier
4) run chkdsk and see if your hdd has bad sectors
5) search for memtest86 and run that to test memory
6) if you have a spare video card swap your current one for that and see if that helps
7) when yoru screen bsods get a picture of the bsod, will make id'ing the exact issue easier.
8) drop kick pc
past that it gets complicated. Your first thing you need to do is identify your stop error. That will lead you to your next course. I recommend running memtest as that is the quickest and easiest to eliminate as an issue.
Good luck. Why would you go through the trouble of doing #1-6 before doing #7? That's a lot of time and effort spent doing things that may not have anything to do with the actual cause of the crashes.
i should of specified it was in no order, just random helpful stuff off the top of my head.

You shouldn't have "should of" anything as "should of" is a nonsensical pair of words that rarely go together. "Should have" however seems to fit within the context of your attempt at writing a sentence. Just sayin' (as they say.) I know. It's too bad of a habit to stop now, so just call me a grammar ****.
Treason never prospers. What is the reason?
Why, if it prospers, none dare call it "treason."

Need help in why my PC goes to the blue screen of death while in game.
Is there any idea's i can try to keep it from happening?
I already dropped the graphics to "performance" level. But if it game related wouldn't the game shut down not my PC?
Thanks to those that reply.
write down the errorcode and the file it happens in, and look up a possible solution online. BSOD are mostly driver errors (either from corrupted files, or ram). |

That's the answer right there

How do you mean? Do you have a link to any kind of knowledge base or case study that supports this assessment? |

wrong, open up case and cleaning first is the proper step with these symptoms... it has to do with experience and looking for the 90% case first... |

I won't deny that cleaning out your PC should be done (TBH, regularly), but from a troubleshooting standpoint looking up the error code should be the first step. Also speaking from experience, both personally and professionally, I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted doing all of those things before finding the real cause. Truth is, it could be any number of things, and you're better off spending your time properly diagnosing the problem by starting with error codes and logs than you are throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. |
