Logged in today to find settings wiped on all three of my accounts. Everything, from my contract shortcuts to my overview settings and channels I may never get the password to again, are gone.
I found this thread and tried Goliath's solution in it, but that was hella old, I didn't have any folders with a '~' in the name in my AppData\Local\CCP\EVE, and my launcher version is 2.1826897.
Is there anything I can do to recover my old settings? I have hard drive images from last week (My computer runs Ubuntu, OS X and OS X, sometimes OS updates break the delicate balance of bootloaders so I keep a backup set of old SATA disks and clone to them regularly), so if there's a way for me to go back to an old install, undo whatever caused the updaters original screwup and then patch safely I could do that too.

I had the same thing happen to me today! Everything gone: Overviews, graphic- and audio settings, language was switched, tutorial reset. Quite annoying.
Luckily I just spend yesterday carefully making and exporting a brand new overview or I would have had a serious problem now. Spend still a lot of extra time correcting all the reset other settings, though. |

i have an automated task backing up the whole C:\Users\My Name\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE directory to another harddrive just before my system is shutting down in the evening. all my stuff was gone a few days ago too but i replaced the files with the ones i backed up and its fine again.
c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility with backup0 or similar in its name. to acces the folder where eve stores the settings, simply paste this into the adress bar of your windows explorer:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE
check if there is a folder called c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility with backup0 or similar in its name.
if yes, you can pull the whole settings folder in it to the same folder without _backup0 in its name. thats what i did when it first happened to me.
there is usually a backup being created when your settings are wiped for some reason. you could also use a program to backup this folder everytime you shut your system down. there are plenty of tools you could use for this :) |
