When you undock you should have the mindset that you are going to lose that ship. It's a harsh world out there in space.
Were you venturing into low-sec? If so, low-sec isn't really the safest place to be if your not ready for it since players may shoot you on sight. And there are several reasons why someone would go after you; there are players that use new toons to go out and scout around, or a simple frigate or newbie ship that is fitted for a cyno, there are plenty or things.
Keep alert to your surroundings would be my tip there, and warp out if you don't feel safe.

Vets kill newbies with impunity because...
- we can. - there are no rules stating we can't (unless it is a designated rookie system). - you might have something valuable inside your ship (we can't tell until we crack it open... and if we asked you, you might lie). - newbies with the right knowledge and the right friends can be just as dangerous as a multi-year veteran.
Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

Couple of things to advise you on.
Dont take anything from yellow cans and then promptly fly around on ap or sit there thinking ill go pop and have a smoke whilst flashy yellow.
Dont accept a duel unless you have the knowledge and ship to win.
Your about 2 weeks old and im presumming you actually did the tutorial. EvE for new starters can be a bit of a wake up call so ask questions and learn. You should still have the Rookie channel open and your in a noob corp. Use it
On the third day after your birth myself and my sister's will come to you and decide your fate.

I don't know what cyno is.
Delta
It allows capital ships to jump to your location from pretty much anywhere nearby (at least the majority of your current region. This means that a noobship can call in a fleet of players and indirectly murder everybody nearby.

First of all, welcome to New Eden. As you've seen, this place can be a brutal and unfair place. However, with adversity comes triumph and I'm sure you've learned a few things so far.
I am going to move this thread to the EVE New Citizen Q&A section where you will get solid advice from veteran players on what sorts of things you can do to improve your game play. I have also removed a couple off-topic posts from this thread.
Good luck out there!

Vets killing noobs is the only way to preserve Eve. It sorts out the mice from the men. If you ragequit because you died then so be it. We would rather have ppl with balls who decide to continue with the game and become vets themselves than ppl who just whine about dying and quit after a few months.
Here's hoping you become the "latter"

We will frequently **** with nubies to see how they take it. assuming they don't fly off the handle and start spewing vitriol, wishing ill upon ourselvs and/or our loved ones and our cat , They're likely going to find that we will be happy to show them where they went wrong, what they could have done better ect ect...
Iv personally spent hours chatting to nubies who found themselves on my killboard, linking them to resources like the many third party websites (o7 chribba ) iv reimbursed ships, given isk and even recruited a couple.
In short, I play this game to hunt others and to be hunted in turn, I see no reason for excluding the newbros from the fun.

Shooting everyone you can is a central theme of this game. One does not need reasons, and if I was to take the time to confirm your newbro status before shooting you then you could just as easily take advantage of my hesitation to shoot me.
If you aren't just here to troll us, I'd suggest you join E-Uni and learn to play the game, because crying doesn't solve anything.

Yah see, just 'cause you wuz a swingin' d!ck in your last game dunnat mean yer packin' in this one. Noobs that get popped by vets are not in their noob area. Usually they're the hotshots who own games at the point of download and everyone else hasn't realized that yet. Now you know. You aren't the first, and you won't be the last. Computer games are filled with hotshots like yourself. Go figure.
Noobs are in the noob zone for a reason. Tough guy gamers who scoff at this and race to the badass regions are soon handed their wreckage.
Treason never prospers. What is the reason?
Why, if it prospers, none dare call it "treason."

Cheer Delta No amount of waiting or checking or talking, will ever demonstrate whether you are an actual noob.
I can create a new account today, and type in local "HEY IM A NEW PLAYER NEVER PLAYED EVE BEFORE" and it would be a complete lie. There is absolutely no way to see if you truly are a new player, or just a new alt of a very very old player.
Id suggest joining a new player friendly corp, like Brave Newbies or Eve UNI or RvB, and have them teach you the ropes of Eve online. Best player experience possible, in my opinion. |
