Edited by: honey badger on 01/10/2006 11:30:42 Hi, IĈm newly into PvP and am looking for a good caldari cruiser set-up. At the moment I have a caracal and a Blackbird but can afford a moa and fittings for it.
On the black bird I have Highs - 1 250mm railgun and 3 heavy launchers Mids - 10mn AB, Medium Shield booster, warp jammer and 3 racial specific ecm. Lows -2 Cap rechargers The BB can run its highs and EW modules indefinitely but can be tanked by most cruisers it faces
The caracal on the other hand has tremendous fire power but poor shields and has to sacrifice it 50km range to get within warp jammer range.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Would it be worth training up yo use gallente cruisers as i already have a number of hybrid turret skills? Badger

the caracal and moa can work very well in small gang PvP, and are ok but far from the best in solo PVP
I would only take a blackbird into PVP in a gang and fully dedicated to ECM, this will very likely need NOS to sustain a full rack of 6 jammers long enough to kill the target

In that case do you think i should switch to a gallente ship for solo PvP? if so i presume the thorax would be the best. Any advice on solo PvP setups for the moa or thorax would be greatly appreciated!

Caldari lacks good solo PVP ships, especially in cruiser class. You can try hunting only frigs in an assault launcher/Large Shield Extender setup, or you can try using the BB to Nos/Assault missile/ECM the guy to death... but since all caldari ships are really really slow, you'll probably be better off using a Thorax for solo PVP pwnage :) Or... train up for T2 frigs... the Harpy's pretty nice for PVPing if you know what you're doing ;)

Blackbirds are great in a gang, but solo they are pretty weak; with that amount of firepower you won't have any cruiser size targets down before your ECMs start to fail (I'm not sure whether your cap rechargers are cap power relays or flux coils, as normal cap recharger use midslots. If they are cap power relays, your shield boost will suffer alot.).
It is an option to go for the caracal, although it struggles solo against most other cruisers, and you have to give up tank for ab/scram.
My advice: Find a friend in a caracal, maybe drop the rail and put on a medium nos, and go kill cruisers. For solo piracy, thorax and vexor (gallente cruisers) are much better and worth training for.
