Hello, looking for some help with this, as it's happened twice in the last month, and it's pretty annoying.
Once in a while, I will close my Eve client and quickyl restart it. For example, when I'm just finished a complex and want to relog to get the game running smoother, or if I'm bugged and can't get gang invites.
I close client, start it up again, and I get a windows-type error message labeled "Verification Failure" over the splash screen (as opposed to a message within the eve client itself, if that makes sense) that says: "Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please re-install the game client."
Has anyone been getting this problem? Is there a way to fix it aside from a reinstall, perhaps a STUFF file replacement or something?
Any help appreciated, thanks.

I'm in same boat. I got the "Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please re-install the game client."
Now, after 4 different downloads, each download gives me the "Verification Failure" error.
Very frustrating. Any ideas anyone?

Does the problem resolve itself after restarting the computer? Or do you have to reinstall?
More than likely, the program hasn't fully dumped its memory yet, so it's only half shut down and that's what's bringing the error up. Next time, try hitting ctrl+alt+del and see if exefile.exe is still running after you close EVE (it'll be listed under Processes). Firefox does this to me every once in a while, as did Oblivion once, and I've seen EVE do it a couple of times.
The issue is with how Windows manages program memory, particularly as it relates to Swap. Check the processes and let us know if that fixes it :-)

I have this problem, I have rebooted my PC and it still happens. When it first started it was more like it needed a certain time limit to allow me back in.

Well, the first two times it happened, I needed to get back in the game quickly, so I didn't have time to do anything but reinstall.
This time, it crashed right before I had to leave for work, so I made this post and just got back.
Lo and behold, I open the Eve client and it works.
Thanks, I'll just make sure to kill the process next time.

i have the same problem, i explain a little more: im on windows 2000 pro i install and play eve for a while without problems. Then, it begin to don't work. With this message : "your eve client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please re-install the game client". More i reinstall, more often EvE will crash. And, one day, it don't work anymore. I reinstall, and it wouldn't launch. i use regedit to delete all references that i found, i delete all i found about eve in my pc, but it didn't work anymore. Now, i have only one solution : reinstall windows. 2 times i made it, so it begins to be a little boring... Please help me, i don't want to reinstall windows again, for 1 week...

Edited by: LittleHorror on 17/10/2006 12:09:13 Got the problem too on one of my computers, I have not reinstalled the EVE client or so, it happend to me after the last two client patches.
Computer (WinXP Pro, 1GB, 60GB harddisk) I have 2 EVE client running in seperated directories, both give the problem.
I just delete the Machonet folder and restart the EVE-client and than it works again for me.
Than it works, until I log and try to relog again without restart, just to login a different account and also when I try to login the same account
The other computer I have has no problem when I run EVE on this one (Windows 2000 Pro, 512 MB, 40GB harddisk).

Windows Xp is bad too, and don't work with my old screen. I have a precision with this problem. Sometimes i run a version of eve, then i launch the program a second time (for an other account, to have an alt ingame). When i launch the second account, it crash. But the first account is always playing ( well, without bugs or crashes ). So, files are corrupted and programs can't launch, but it's running well when it is already launch.

Same problem here, it cost me a windows installation, but the problem just occured again. Some asumptions: - I just changed my Motherboard and processor. It is now a 64bit one, is it possibe it has a link ? - Is it only since the last patch was deployed ? I will be following this thread... atm .. playing on linux ^^

Ive gotten this three times now and so far only a clean reinstall solves the issue for me. It gets annoying to have to reinstall Eve every week....

Same here. No firewall up. No changes since the last time I played. Just tells me I need to reinstall the game. Now, reading here, its clear that will change nothing.
