The other day i was ratting in Lonetrek. I was in a caracal, solely fittet for PVE. Suddenly, a bunch of people, all negative sec rating, entered local. As i still was figuring what was about to go on, i'm being jumped by 4 pirates at once! I aligned for warp, one of them tried to bump me out of align, but i barely escaped to the nearest station where i spent the next hour or so. I was really ****ed since i had a pretty good spawn and had to leave my loot cans in the belt. Tried to provoke them a bit on local, but no reaction. Eventually, they leaved. I think they were missioning or had some kind of tournament. So i went out to my belt, looting my cans before they pop. Guess what? THEY WERE FULL OF ITEMS! Even some T2 items. Those pirates seemingly left me some of their stuff. THANK YOU, GUYS! For them, it surely only was pocket change, but for me, being a total noob, those items proved valuable. This is really a nice move, and something more people should consider. If you pop a noob, let him live and leave him some stuff. You had your fight and killmail and he won't be mad at you.

my forensic spider sense is tingling...
those were actually YOUR cans?
my first bet would be, somebody died there, and didnt really leave his stuff out of generosity.
there are quite some options i can think of, the one you described, too, of course, but it would be the last thing i would think of ;) -- Only you can save MMORPGS - Stop whining today! |

there were lots of cans, but i only opened the ones that belonged to me. there were 5 white cans in the belt when i left, and 5 white cans when i arrived back later. i'm curious now: if someone dies, can you open his loot without any warning message appearing and even having his can showing up in "white", as if it was yours?

cans can be white without actually belonging to you.
i think it happens shortly before they expire and go pop. -- Only you can save MMORPGS - Stop whining today! |

There's also the fact that you can only take from, and not put anything into, an NPC loot can. |

It's far more likely that they jettisoned some of the stuff they had that was "junk" to pick up some stuff in the cans. SO you nabbed their "junk" which happened to be your "treasure". ------------------------------------ I like long walks, a good book before bed, and human entrails served cold with a side order of scrap metal. |

It appears that they jettisoned some of their t2 stuff so you would take it...giving them kill rights for 15 min. I'm surprised they didn't show up a few min later and shoot you at a station or gate.

i really doubt that any pirate would do this. it more likly that they shoot somebody else or were shoot and left the cans behind.
charity among pirates!! omg, I'm getting this wierd feeling again!
