Clearly looking at the stats for systems there is an ebb and flow to things. Things are busier on weekends and/or evenings etc. How much of a factor is this for something like exploring? I've been getting pretty deep into Nul sec, areas which seem to be less traveled etc, but they still seem quite picked over. I'm wondering if its just my play schedule which is putting me on line at less than lucrative times. |

I'm not an explorer, so I can't tell you much about that, but if you hang around in a specific area, it is a good idea to find out a bit about the local inhabitants. If the main Alliances in the region are specific-timezone (there are a lot of nationality-specific alliances out there, and just looking at corp descriptions will give away the more obvious (see cyrillic, assume Russian)), you can get a decent read on when the busier and quieter times of the day will be. Even if you can't tell for sure, it is safe to assume the late EU-early US crossover to be one of the busier times. |

null sec has routes which people will regularly take and also people who live in particular areas will do the sites as well.
Wormholes have far fewer people in them and you can end up in shattered ones as well with up to 50 sigs in them, many of which could hold hundreds of millions of isk.
You also can't make routes through wormholes as they are constantly changing |

My understanding is there are no data/relic sites in W-space, correct?

No there are at least relic sites in wh-space. Haven't done any though. Also, yes tz does play a significant role on what may be left for others. I usually do my exploration in "my wake up" tz (very early EU, very late US - aka if i'm not totally mistaken Aussie time) when there tends to be quite a bit of exploration sites that have either just spawned or been missed by those not quite awake then. |

There are null type anomalies in c1-c3 but the rest have only sleeper sites which spawn sleepers upon entering and can be escalated with capitals but then again doing anything beyond c4 sites solo is just asking to get spanked.

There are both nullsec sites and wormhole data and relic sites in class 1, 2 and 3 wormholes and only sleeper data and relic sites in classes 4, 5 and 6. The nullsec-type sites have no rats guarding them, while the sleeper sites are heavily guarded by NPC:s. |

There are both. Null type and Sleeper type. |

That's when Jita is most likely to have the gates locked.

Euro time is busier then US time for what its worth. But I have always felt that null has substantially fewer exploration sites in comparison to low. While null sites may be better quality, I personally believe that you will make more isk doing exploration in low - due to the number of sites available.
I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

In SOV null-sec it also depends on the systems themself.
An upgraded system, usually has better chances to spawn the sites, but this comes with a trade-off. The system isn't upgraded for no reason, people live there.

Time of day should have a pretty minimal impact on site availability, as when a site is completed it respawns somewhere else very quickly. If sites are done twice as fast they respawn twice as fast.
What will change is how often you encounter other players. In peak times, you will encounter lots more of them.

Yep, during off peak midweek when sometimes there are less than 18K players online some parts of lowsec where I have PI alts are getting as low as 4 or 5 jumps an hour.
There are times I even leave the Viator docked and just collect everything in an Epithal. Not something I would even consider during peak times.
The other significant factor is some resources like ice reload over server downtime so you are better off logging in just after server down than before.
