Bought up all Nanos in jita. Resold them for more than 400% base price. That didn't change the demand and I made good profit.
But, my second thought was, how long would it take till the first ****** sets a new sellorder slightly above buyorder price.
It was less than one hour.

Some people will never get rich or/and have a troll fetish. If I see someone buying out a market and have that item in stock I'll go out of my way to stock it at the normal price. Either they lose a massive chunk of isk from the overpriced ones they bought, or they buy out my whole stock at the price I'd have been aiming for anyway. Recently I saw this happening and dropped 4000 of *an item* back on the market, then when they bought that, 4k more, and so on. They'd bought 12k by the time they gave up and sheepishly dropped most of them back on the market under the price they bought it, and I saved heap of time working the market.

That way you still make your profit without much effort, but what about those people who sell just above buy orders price? What's their game? |

I love intervening after someone buys up a market by selling at way above 'fair' price but well under what the buyer is trying to get.
Often the buyer will buy your stockpile.

Indeedy. The "buy lots of stuff, resell higher" tactic has potential snags.
1) How fast can the regular manufacturers replenish stocks? 2) Do they have stocks sitting in the warehouse waiting for the right price to reveal themselves?
My spreadsheet (checked daily) will highlight this tactic and if I have stock I'll dump it the same day. I have an adjustable profit threshold for ranges of items that says IF Widget price is x% above Factory Gate price THEN sell.
When doing this, just bear in mind that there may be others playing a longer game than you. They can sit for months waiting for the right moment to scupper your buyout!
