So I tried to close an EOL WH today, went through on my first pass in a higgs BS and when jumping back, the hole closed on me. At the time, the mass was above 50% and the description on the WH was
"This wormhole is reaching the end of its natural lifetime."
Taken from the e-uni site, I was under the impression you get a warning minutes before it closes through the description
"This wormhole is on the verge of dissipating into the ether."
I figured "bad luck, probably that info is outdated, you don't get a warning and I was unlucky to go through just as its lifetime ended".
Now just a few minutes ago, we wanted to close another hole (3 hours+ left on the timer) and the exact same thing happened. First pass, and just before (or when?) jumping back the hole closes on us.
Anyone got a similar experience? |

Correct. You don't get that warning.

What type of wormhole? What was it's mass stage? Did you jump with prop mod on? |

C247 (our static), as said it was above 50% (This wormhole has not yet had its stability significantly disrupted by ships passing through it) and I went in without prop mod ... |

Weird. Either you misjudged the remaining lifetime on the hole or something funky happened. |

EDIT: I'm gonna try a third time asap ... see if what happens. Thank you for the replies though - much appreciated! |

Have never seen "This wormhole is on the verge of dissipating into the ether" ever in my life, and ive watched a lot of holes close on time. Much like most things on the EVE Uni wiki (hell, do they still reference sleeper dreads?), it's wrong.
Your hole times out *shrug*.

Mass on a Higs Geddon with the prop mod lit is over 350 KT. Mass on a high class worm hole hits crit at 300 KT so it is possible to jump through a second stage hole with a Higs BS and close it. I know that for a fact because I've rolled myself out before doing the same thing. If your second stage take the Higs BS out with the prop off and return with it on. |

which BS you used is very important here.
Also when you push a hole to the next stage, it can have +-10% of the recalculated mass, e.g. you put 600,000,000kg through a 1bil hole, you might think there's 400mil left but in fact it could have up to 10% less. |

Not possible on a c247 thats a c3 hole with 300m max mass so a higgs geddon can't go through it.
Sounds like you had an unlucky streak. Bob probably won't bother you again for a little while.
The only rational explanation would be you jumped through as the timers expired. Timers are not set in stone and you are also depending on someone catching that it went eol quickly to say you still had 3+ hours left. I think what happened to you is a very rare occurrence especially back to back, but I've seen nothing unusual like that when rolling holes so i think it's just a little bad luck. |

Ahh replied from my phone and was too lazy to look up the wormhole number. If it was mentioned in a post, then I missed that. Plus I haven't rolled anything lower than a C4 in a while. |

Thx for the replies ... I'll have to start worshipping Bob it appears - I was a Bobette follower until now, seems I was wrong!

I'm using a Tempest, 200,000 kg without and just short of 300,000 kg with MWD on, but like I said before, the hole was still healthy when I went through (i.e. above 50%) and the max hole mass being 2,000,000 kg rules out that it closed due to mass exceedence.
I'll call it bad luck then, sacrifice something at the sun and hope I'm good for a while - like KC Kamikaze mentioned, statistically, I should be right? right?? |

I had a similar occurrence on the test server that I BR'd. Had an N432 close some time roughly between the 12th and 13th hour of its life. Just out of the blue. And everything stated the wormhole was stable. |
