Are the cosmos missions worth running and should i salvage them? simply trying to clear up unfinished content from when i first started playing eve and was wondering if these are worth the effort or should i just leave them? Am fairly sure ui have retraced my steps and am upto king of the hill in the amarr cosmos, caldari cosmos yet to track back to last point.

I enjoyed doing Cosmos. I especially liked the story plots associated with them. Since Cosmos Missions can only be completed once in the life of your character that fact alone makes them worth the time to do.
Currently I've completed almost all of the Empire Cosmos Agents. Not counting the Faction Ship BPC Agents, I only have 4 Empire Cosmos Agents left to complete :
Agents at Fort Kumar in Kenobanala System : Zama Fedas - Lv 4 - Khanid Kingdom (Recruiter) Minas Iksan - Lv 4 - Amarr Empire (Central Control Tower - Must see Recruiter first)
Agents at The Alliance Barracks in Audesder System : Daemire Adamia - Lv 4 - ORE (Recruiter) Ison Tiadala - Lv 4 - Minmatar Republic (Warlord - Must see Recruiter first)
After those are completed I'll look into completing the Pirate Cosmos Agents.
As for salvage, concentrate more on the large wrecks. I believe the wrecks in the static Cosmos Complexes only drop Metal Scraps.

I never took the time to salvage them, as they take you way out to nowhere and back. The story elements I was hungry for got satisfied for a bit with these and the two epic arcs I was able to do, due to standing drop from being in factional warfare and a ton of Gallente missioning prior to my first attempt at them. Their difficulty varies wildly and suddenly, or at least that's how it felt in my T1 cruiser. Never got around to finishing them. Finding the agents is half the fun of you don't use the guides.

It is recommended to read the various guides before attempting the COSMOS missions for a number of reasons.
a) Some of the NPCs are pretty tough and are hard to take down. There can be total aggro in some of the areas and if coupled with web/scram you can lose you ship fairly easily.
b) Micro Jump Drive is your best friend in COSMOS areas as NPC's cannot prevent it's use. See a) above.
c) A large percentage of COSMOS missions require 'key' objects to complete them. The majority of these 'key' objects can be and are farmed on a regular basis and there is a delay before they are available again. In the worst case scenario if others will not **** off and let you acquire one of the items your mission timer could run out. Therefore it's best to acquire 'key' items before accepting the missions.
d) Some COSMOS missions/agents have to be completed in a certain order. Yet another reason to do your homework and 'google' all the guides first.
On the subject of past/current contract/market prices for COSMOS BPCs and some COSMOS materials they are on the whole quite ridiculously overpriced with some single BPCs being listed at over 100 million ISK. I very much doubt they are ever sold. The majority of COSMOS modules are not currently worth fitting to your ship. There are a few that are viable but not many.
The best reason for doing COSMOS missions currently is to acquire higher Empire standings for travel/tax/reprocessing yield/jump clone reasons. A recent change to some MLU stats shows where COSMOS modules should be in relation to other module classes. Until, or maybe more importantly IF that is implemented the majority of COSMOS modules are not worth the Tritanium used to construct them.

a) Using the guides is a necessity.
b) Some of the missions do give decent rig salvage and where you can get navy tags from the ships it is worth doing given that you have taken opposing standing hit/s in the process.
c) For the most part a T1 cruiser will get you an early grave in COSMOS areas/missions. You need a T1 Battlecruiser and some will require a T1 Battleship to complete.
d) The difficulty and NPC strengths do vary greatly in COSMOS missions hence my recommendation that a micro jump drive module should be fitted if at all possible.
