I want to make a small courier that can run from high to low sec with items that are low mass but high ISK. Still really new to the fitting game and would like your input.
[Magnate]

Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints I Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints I Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints I
Hold 552 m3, aligns in 5.2. 3 high and 2 mediums open 193 cpu and 14 power still available.

This is how I would do it:
[Magnate, GateRunner]
Damage Control II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II 200mm Reinforced Steel Plates II
Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I [Empty Med slot] [Empty Med slot]
Improved Cloaking Device II [Empty High slot] [Empty High slot]
Small Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I Small Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I Small Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I
Utilize the MWD cloak trick and you will be much safer. The Damage Control and Plate should save you from a single smart bomber, not sure about multiple smart bombers. Get in the habit of turning on the DC when you know there may be a gate camp or to be safer just do it every time you warp.
I put Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizers on most of my hauling ships as you will get to your destination considerably faster and it is more difficult for all but interceptors to keep up with you if they decide to give chase through multiple systems.
The align time you posted is with the MWD on BTW, it will be faster than that but not fast enough, some gate camps can lock you quicker than you can align unless you are in an interceptor. Most gate camps will also have high alpha ships (this means their rate of fire is very slow but the initial volley is designed for maximum damage) that will easily kill your ship in one shot so the warp stabs are not very useful.
You might not be able to fit a cloak yet but if you want to haul in low sec it is a necessity as you will eventually want to utilize Covert Ops ships and Blockade Runners. So better to work on that sooner than later.

exellent fits....you will die to the first smartbombing ship.
I used this. It survives 8 DG thermal smartbombs. It almost insta warps and has a good warp speed. Warp core stabs are needed just incase they will have remote repped and remote boosted ceptor. Such ceptors dont usualy have more then long points.

Most gate camps will also have high alpha ships (this means their rate of fire is very slow but the initial volley is designed for maximum damage) that will easily kill your ship in one shot so the warp stabs are not very useful. Using the T2 cargohold expanders will get you to 650 m3, this will allow you to use two medium containers thereby increasing your cargo to 780 m3. So better to work on that sooner than later. Once you have mastered the MWD cloak trick in your magnate, if you want to haul more and can't use a blockade runner yet, Sigil will also work: [Sigil, 11.3K m3] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I Large Shield Extender II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Improved Cloaking Device II [Empty High slot] Medium Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I Medium Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I Medium Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer I Only use as many Expanded Cargo Hold mods as you need for the load you are carrying, the first thing to replace them is a damage control and than Intertial Stabilizers.

Let's not recommend a 65 mil isk ship to someone who doesn't know what they are doing yet. He could potentially be caught in that ship as based off the align time he posted he doesn't have agility based skills trained high enough to get sub 2 second align times.
Davey Talvanen wrote:He said "Low volume items" . A cargo expander is uneeded Because 780 m3 is high volume? Did you notice he put expanders on his original fit? Did you also read the last line of my post?

1200m-¦ cargo MWD+Cloak trick is your only friend, learn how to dock and undock without exploding, i.e. read the Eve Uni Wiki. If you don't need quite as many m-¦, use the rigs to get better resists on the shield, or fit a Damage control for one of the expanders.

Smartbombs are a persistent threat in Low Sec, so the priority is to have enough tank to survive at least 16 smart bombs (two full racks), while also having a sub 2s align time, and you are fairly safe. If you are consistently going through really infamous choke systems, either plan a new route (preferable) or make sure to make perches/tacticals around suspect gates, or when you see flashies in local.
Remember also to have instant undock bookmarks, and instant dock bookmarks, for every station you plan on going to, otherwise, bad things can happen.

Always use D-scan on gates, if you see 2+ bs on gates, never ever warp to them at 0 (99% they will have smartbombs and they will kill you). If you can't D-scan the outgoing gate, then warp to a belt next to it, if there is no belt, then warp to 100 and check the gate.
Why are these excellent fits if they will die to the first smart bomber??? Were you being sarcastic?
OP, fit for fast align.....you want to be in warp as fast as you can. Also, if you insist on using the magnate, fit a coak and use the cloak-mwd trick as was suggested earlier.

There is no need to use T-2 rigs, T-1 rigs will get you the same warpout time of 2 seconds. |

I know lots of players use smartbombing Roks in Rancer. One Rok is about 2100 volley damage, times 2 that is 4200 volley. So we need a magnate that can align in under 2 seconds and has an ehp greater than 4200, hmmm.. not happening...
OP , use a cloak and scout and dont warp gate to gate if you insist on using the magnate. |

@Bhaal Estidal
As other have mentioned, learn how to use the Microwarpdrive + Cloak trick to get through gate camps. If you don't have a cloak yet, don't go through lowsec.
I personally use an Astero for this kind of hauling. It's very versatile, fast (under 2s align), can warp cloaked and has a decent tank (over 10k ehp omni) to survive smartbombs. But it's rather expensive, if you are a new player. |

While obviously not the most practical thing, it is technically possible to make a magnate of those parameters:
[Magnate, Challenge Accepted]
Shadow Serpentis Inertial Stabilizers Shadow Serpentis Inertial Stabilizers Shadow Serpentis Inertial Stabilizers Damage Control II
Medium Shield Extender II EM Ward Amplifier II Thermic Dissipation Amplifier II
[Empty High slot] [Empty High slot] [Empty High slot]
Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints II Small Core Defense Field Extender II Small Core Defense Field Extender II
Eifyr and Co. 'Rogue' Evasive Maneuvering EM-703
A travel fit interceptor will have less cargo, but can sport similar ehp values, but not require the stupid faction istabs.

Interceptors are pretty good for this chore as you can get your Align/Warp time down to under 2s. At which point, thanks to the way server ticks work, you simply cannot get pointed before you warp out. We're talking seriously low mass items here.
I've been known to haul a 'ceptor full of freshly cooked Nanite Repair Paste to Jita from 0.0 if I need to do a speed run to get something I badly need (usually a skillbook).
However, imho The Best Ship for this purpose is a tech 2 cloaky hauler (Viator or similar). Mine has 2x inertial mass stabs and a nano in the lows along with a T2 low friction nozzle rig. That thing warps like a frigate for my alt with exceedingly marginal Navigation skills.
As mentioned, you will want to bookmark some gate perches on all gates you plan on taking regularly and get insta-undock bookmarks for any and every station you plan on visiting regularly, especially Lowsec stations.
