I am officially finished with the Mission running phase of my career. Today I considered not logging in at all, I was bored. I take that as a sign that I must try something different.
Which leads me to...
What side should I start with between Minmatar and Gallente? I have low standings with Amarr and Caldari due to running missions. I will not be able to join a corp right now. I do not have a working mic, and with 2 babies in the house I dont want to make noise late at night either. Pretty much all the corps I looked at had TS3 and a working mic as a strict requirement, which is understandable. So instead of sending in application on application to only get rejected I might as well start out on my own.
What Gallente ship? In my previous thread I also asked, but I havent had a conclusive answer yet. I have narrowed my choices down between an Incursus or the Atron. Both are cheap, so I can easily afford 30 ships with a reasonable priced fitting.
On that subject, does anyone mind sharing a fit that I can use?
Lastly, which system should I operate out of? |

Gallente Militia is in a bit better position than the Minmatar right now, because we are in Tier 2. That translates to better LP, and since you're talking about going solo for a while that's probably the major factor.
Mic / TS is pretty important for participating in fleets, but not all GalMil groups have strict requirements for participation on that level. Moira has a number of longstanding members that we don't see very often on coms, but still like to play and contribute in their own way. I'd be happy to talk privately about navigating the whole joining a Corp in EVE thing at some point when you're more ready to do so.
As for a system to operate out of, it depends on what environment you are looking for. Do you want a system that's out of the way? Or one that's in the thick of it? |

Join Minmatar :-)
Fly a Tristan - they are always welcome in kitchen sink fleets and can be used solo.
Really you should try and get a microphone - even if you don't speak unless it's an emergency. Some FC's will not have a fleet member in their team speak if they do not have an un muted mic. This because the assumption is that you are listening to comms but using your mic to pass Intel elsewhere.
Really you will find you move away from one ship hull and into corp doctrines. If you cannot fly the doctrines then you will find yourself left out of fleets. |

Thank you. I am hoping that if people see me participating, getting better all the time and trying to help they might consider me as a member despite not being able to participate in comms (I can listen in, but not talk).
I suppose it would be better to get into a quieter system for now just to get my feet wet? |

Don't dip your toes. Dive in.
Live in Lowsec. The more organized corps and alliances in Gal Mil have plenty of organized stuff going on all the time, attrition and plexing ships on contract. Fly all the time, plex if you want to, and fight fight fight! |

Once upon a time I took the dive right in approach and haven't looked back. Getting a mic and participating in fleets is a completely different game experience than what you'll find doing anything else. If you are in a good GalMil corp you can log on to our joint coms at pretty much any time, hop in a derptron, and be welcome in *almost* any fleet. Exceptions being maybe something supar sekrit, which you probably wouldn't even know was going on.
However, from what you've said so far that's not something you can swing right now with kids / life the way it is. Thankfully, you don't have to play the game how other people tell you to.
If you *are* looking for somewhere quiet: I just sent you a mail with a system name. |

Getting a working mic isn't all that much of an effort. Known a few pilots with kids and I think any sane person will be cool with your restrictions. I'd say join a group asap and learn the ropes from them - nothing stopping you to also head out solo and explode. |

Not sure if you noticed - but join Amarr. Although we had supremacy, that is changing. Nothing in Eve is constant, today is not tomorrow. The other thing is - get on TS - I wouldn't fleet with you otherwise. Coms make fleets so much easier, and in the end FW is a team deal. If you want to simply solo - then simply solo.
You want to be accepted - prove your worth. Respect is earned thru actions not requests or I wantah's. Either way - no matter what faction - join the fray and don't look back. Earn your stripes and don't expect sympathy until it's deserved.

Deserved sympathy? Fly cheap and don't be discouraged. Flying well will come later, when you start ironing out frequent mistakes. Form good habits. Get a headset. You don't have to speak to receive orders, and you can type what's going on. An FC will never make you scout one this annoys them enough. I always point people to the 200mm plated + small rep Incursus with a med and whatever guns you can fit to fill in the pg/cpu you have left. It will help you figure out how to stop ahead of time to keep your turrets in range and apply point and web. And a cheap fit does just as well. Try to at least t2 the repairer.

Minmatar Militia is also T2 lately. Also, Minmatar Militias has the least amount of pilots out of all four of the militias. We need you the most. |
