So I started Trading a bit, I put up buy orders, and it only took me about a week to obtain my 50 Merlins.
Over the week the prices changed a bit, so much so that I now am not so sure at what price I actually bought most of them and I am also not sure if the sell orders on the station became cheaper or more expensive and therefore I have no clue how much I earn or in worst case even lose if I put the sell Orders up right now...
What is a good way to track prices of items ? I need to know at what price I bought the Items, are there any tools that help with this ? One solution would be good old excel, but that would also be quite a bit of work... |

Couple of options;
1st, check the journal or transaction tabs of your wallet. That should show money in and out of your wallet so you can track each purchase.
2nd, once you select an item in the market you are by default dumped on the details page which has all the active buy and sell orders. Theres another tab called 'price history' that tracks volumes sold and average prices up to a year in the past. It's not specific to you (if you got scammed you probably wouldn't see it there without cross-referencing somewhere else but niether would you see a good deal either) but the data there (either in table or graph form) can help you see what the market was doing and where it might be going. |

Useful advice above. You can even search "Merlin" in your wallet transactions tab IIRC to filter out everything else.
One trading tip - diversifying is essential. Spread your ISK around to different items. That way, when the price of Merlins crashes you don't lose all your ISK. Also if you have less money invested in the item you may be able to afford sitting on the stock and waiting for the price to go back up. If all your capital is invested in the same thing (or few things) you have to choose between selling at a loss or stagnating.

1) Evernus (multi-platform): http://evernus.com/ 2) Eve Mentat (Windows): http://www.evementat.com/download/ 3) Eve Profit: http://192.40.57.168/war/EVE-Profit/ 4) Eve Mogul: https://www.eve-mogul.com/
I like Eve Profit even if it is a little unpolished, but try them all out and see if one fits your needs.
Sabriz Adoudel for CSM 10 is a good idea.

One solution would be good old excel, but that would also be quite a bit of work... Unless you use one of the available tools (check the links provided by Black Pedro) there's no way around spreadsheets, if you intend to trade regularly. There's simply no proper ingame tool to help you keep track of your trades.
If you set up your own spreadsheet I'd suggest not to track each asset individually but pool them by item type. So in your example, instead of tracking 50 seperate purchases of Merlins, you have one line in your spreadsheet that tells you that you have 50 Merlins with an average value (based on purchase price) of xx ISK.
Using your own spreadsheet is more work but might help you to better understand a few things. Just make sure you don't forget to consider fees and taxes, which have a big impact unless you get your skills and standings up.

Yeah, the program is called MS Excel.
Any trader of decent size has a way to keep record.
And making +á basic excel sheet for trading only takes an evening, an advanced maybe +á couple of days. And IMO they are better then any website.

Sometimes prices change for short-term reasons (e.g. maybe that Merlin dropped because Tommy Frigate Builder finished building 1530 units of Merlins and took them to market on Mondey, and everyone wants to 0.01 ISK Tommy).
Other times they change for medium-term reasons (e.g. a major nullsec alliance moves away from using Oneiroses in their fleets, so demand drops considerably, but producers don't realise this in advance).
Other times they change for long-term reasons (e.g. the frequency of Rattlesnake blueprint drops had an indirect increase a few patches ago).
Do not be afraid to sell the Merlin you bought for 385k ISK for 375k ISK if your reading of the market is that they are going to fall further. And, most importantly, don't be afraid to buy Merlins again in the future.
If you aren't losing ISK on at least one trade in 20, you probably are trading too conservatively,
