I am a new player for 3 months with about 1million ISK in my wallet so please understand this before you give me the hopelessly pointless answer to the quest "just buy them."
A mission should be achievable, within the time frame, and achievable within the bonus time if you work really hard and even get lucky.
I looked for six hours in surrounding systems and there are no Blood rats just Sansha. Players gave me bad information that I shouldn't be finding Sansha in non disputed systems. That is wrong.
I had to go to my home system of Myyhera and surrounding areas to find Blood pirates
Over the course of looting tons of these guys over six hours I was not able to find one tag. They cost 1-3 million per tag. I would be better off SELLING THEM.
This is really badly designed mission.
In character, the agent is obviously hopelessly out of touch with what is going on in surrounding systems. That doesnt seem right since she lives in a tiny box in the middle of a system with no stations. Youd think she would want to be concerned about all the Sansha infesting the area!
Here is the mission:
Keeping Crime in Check
Mission briefing Right now I'm looking for 20 x Blood Bronze Tag. These tags have been implanted into certain pirates which infest Amarr Empire space, which they use to identify each other with. To acquire them you will most likely have to kill them, or buy them off someone who did exactly that. I don't really care either way, as long as they have been taken care of I'm satisfied.
This might not be the very best way to confirm deaths, but we've been quite successful in the past using this method. Forgeries are almost non-existent, as each tag costs more to manufacture than it's worth on the bounty market. Not only that but we can usually tell a fake apart from a genuine pirate tag. And they have remarkable survivability, usually found in the charred wreckage of the pirate ships despite everything else, including the pirate's corpse, having been completely vaporized.
You can find the pirates carrying the Blood Bronze Tag in many places, but I'd first check the asteroid belts in the surrounding systems as attacking defenseless miners is their favorite past-time. Good luck, and have fun.
This mission expires at 2015.03.08 23:49
This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.
Keeping Crime In Check Objectives The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission:
Bring Item Objective Acquire these goods: Drop-off Location0.7-áSelate Kalami's Bunker in Kudi. Item20 x Blood Bronze Tag (2.0 m-¦)
Rewards The following rewards will be yours if you complete this mission: 149,000 ISK
Bonus Rewards Bonus no longer available. The bonus time interval has passed. 191,000 ISK

Thanks for reading my post and suggesting what I already tried for six hours.
There are plenty of Blood Raiders elsewhere but none of them carry this supposedly indestructible tag. |

There are plenty of them in the low-sec belts. My noob has found quite a few. But it's not something that will happen in a day especially with low skills.

Cosmos mission areas are the best at dropping tags from my experience. However I only have experience with the Gallente cosmos missions and serpentis tags drop within these areas such as the contested Gallente Skeleton Comet quite often.

"It can take weeks to gather up the necessary tags, so you should do it ahead of time, or be prepared to spend millions of ISK to buy the tags before the mission expires."
In other words..... BAD GAME DESIGN. Either that or they're trying to roleplay the Amarr Empire as out of touch and doomed to fall, like yesterday....
Thanks for the tip about COSMOS areas, I will try that. Because if I can find a way to farm them I'll be rich!
I can mine like 1 million worth of luminous kernite, fly to Jita and sell it per hour, that's 20 hours to work on this mission. I would frankly have more fun doing something else like play FFXV or WoW. That's something to think about for the health of the game, I'm only playing because I have so much work to do off window and I can play with my eyes closed practically. Can't do that in FFXV or WoW.
But I want to see progress if I am working on something difficult. I logged another 3 hours today killing Bloods in random systems off Myyhera. |

Just drop this mission and get new ones.
if you really killed Blood Raiders for 3 hours you should now have at least 10-15 mio. (Bounties, loot and salvage)

The Golden Serpent wrote:In character You seem to think there is some kind of lore or RP reason for/to these missions. There is not.
The only reason these missions exist is so that players can quickly raise their faction standings. As such, they're not poorly designed as you said. They're just designed to be very simple: pay money - get standings.
All four main factions have these missions available. So it's not the game designers' goal to portray the Amarr as "out of touch and doomed to fail." RP simply does not figure into these missions at all, in any way, shape or form.
Note that there are several Keeping Crime in Check missions, each asking for different tags. While some of those tags are quite expensive, some of them are dirt cheap. How much you want to pay to raise your faction standings is entirely up to you.
tl;dr: When Keeping Crime in Check, stay OOC and forget everything about RP. |

Ahhh, welcome to Eve.
I had the same situation when I first started playing Eve years ago. Thanks to friends I was able to finish the mission before it expired.
The main problem is that those missions were created a long time ago when loot drops were plentiful. Over time the loot table and drop rate has been nerfed repeatedly by CCP.
Granted a few years ago CCP did reduce the amount of Copper Tags required to complete the level 1 Data Center Agent missions. However due to the constant nerfing to loot drops, CCP should definitely reduce the Tag requirements for all the other Data Center missions as well.
As for your problem, best to just buy the Tags from the Markets and complete that mission before it expires. You can also ask other players in corp chat if anyone has those Tags, they might sell them for cheap price or even give them to you for free.
In the future, best be prepared first before accepting any missions from Event Agents. Always good to do a little bit of research beforehand.
Now about repairing or boosting Faction standings, check out 'The Plan'. It contains tips, guides and info pertaining to the various Event Agents.
Good luck to you.

No it doesn't. You're dumb and you're a newb at communicating politely with other people.
The mission agent clearly states they are indestructible tags found on nearby pirates of which there are a lot of. I posted the whole mission text and she says nothing about getting them before accepting the mission.
Congratulations I totally hate you now. |

That makes sense but they should change the agent's text to read that the tags are very rare drops, not something all the local pirates in the belts will have. grinding pirates for 6-8 hours for nothing is not my idea of a good time. I also wonder if my skill level is affecting the drop rate because the only tag I found was on an abandoned wreck killed by someone else unknown.
I have never had this sort of experience in a game before, seriously, where the game text is arbitrary and you just have to ignore it.
I'm never going to put up with this bs and im always going to complain about it.
I like the Imperial Crusade missions from Sayht in Myyhera because they are very very hard due to going through lowsec with lots of opposite faction players but not impossible, and the agent always tells me exactly what to expect. The tutorial in the beginning of the game directs us new players to either The Imperial Crusade or Sisters of Eve, which both seem like reasonable places to me.
It's like the core path got polished but lots of outlying areas that were not part of that main path were allowed to deteriorate to a very bad state. |

Where are you getting the idea that this mission is impossible? People in this thread have given multiple suggestions on how to complete it.
If you intend to play EVE with only the information given by NPCs and in-game text, you won't get very far. Call it bad game design if you want, but EVE was designed for player interaction. Player communication is what drives everything in this game, even "PvE" strategy. |

I could complete it if I spent IRL money on PLEX and sold it....
That would just mean EVE is pay to win. There is no way I can earn that much cash by the deadline, even if I mined constantly.
Yeah so I am interacting with players now and it sounds like its a really stupid outdated mission that sticks out like a sore thumb amongst all of the other really good and interesting missions I've been on....
Talking to other players hasn't changed my opinion that it's a badly designed part of the game. |

I'd hardly call completing a mission "winning."
Also, mining (for a new player at least) is one of the lowest income methods in the game. I don't expect you to make a bil per day like some people, but a couple million is far from impossible. Don't get so hung up on the one method you tried. |

Those Tags cost about 3 mill each on average.
I have 6x Blood Bronze Tags in station which I placed in private contract to you. I also included 40 mill ISK so you can buy the rest of the Tags from Market.
Look around for best deal, use a 3rd party market site like Eve-Central. In the future don't accept those types of missions until you're ready and have the required items.
Good luck,

You can get stupidly high factions standings very very quickly be doing all the data center missions.
If new players could just churn through them in a few days that would be very unbalanced for the game. Everyone would be at level 3 or 4 mission standing within their first month of play.
Personally I do not see it as a bad design that you can accept the mission before you are capable of completing. People can often accept level IV missions well before they have the ship or skills to have a hope in hell of completing them. Should the game somehow analyse your skills and refuse to issue a mission if you are not up to it ? that would be just stupid.
I always interpreted them as a long term reward for collecting tags.
In reality though the sensible approach is sell all the different tags you get and then buy the specific ones you need. You may lose a few mill on the deal but its way easier than keeping track of all the different types.
BTW: 3 mill per tag is cheap, some of the higher datacentres require 20 tags worth 10 or 20 mill each.
SOLUTION? Well I do not think one is needed but IF it was to change the best change would be increase the standing gateways on the lower missions to stop people taking them too early. |

Sheesh Eve players amaze me. At no point did I ever expect ISK and when I joined people in the help were like "Here have a million ISK!!" I was like "WTF OMG!". I have never been helped in a game before like this until EVE, and I subscribed for a year just on the basis of the amazing help community. It has seriously one of the best roleplaying communities I have seen too.
I don't know what else to say but thank you and I hope I can repay you someday soon. I will definately ask around in chats to see if anyone can lower the price - they are 3 million now as you said but a day ago were much much lower, I imagine due to some sort of weekend influx that I am not astute enough to understand yet.
Anyways I did write a big long help desk ticket explaining why I thought the mission needed to be tweaked. I am not upset that the mission is hard, I am mad there is such a disparity between what the agent says and what is actual.
I wasn't even aware of losing access to missions before you mentioned it. I have been playing for 2 months or so, so there is a lot I don't know.
The idea of closing it off to newer players is a good idea, but I'm sure the simplest procedure would just be to rewrite the agent's introductory text and make her, first, admit there are no Blood Raiders in nearby systems, (only Sansha) and second warn the player the tags are very rare. |

I hope when you say blood raider space you mean like, where they are the rats in the belts, not like owning the stations and Sov, because, Delve isn't a very nice place for a newer player. Still, I know a few people who seem to have some success at farming burner missions in Delve.
In any case, this isn't the usual sort of mission that agents give out, collecting tags is kinda special. Most of the time you are going to be looking at normal security, mining, or distribution missions that are much simpler.:Kill these rats, mine this ore, or haul this stuff.
Eve is the only community I know of where people will not only mercilessly kill you, but also help you, even on the same day. I have many times found a ship in lowsec destroyed it, realized it was a newer person then gave them isk and a conversation about how they can avoid this in the future or try to push them towards PVP. |

Haha, yeah I tried going to Delve and obviously was blown up rather quickly. I don't mind too much because I learned that warp core stabilizers and jammers (that I had on my ship in plenty last time I wandered into high pop nullsec) are really alot more useful than I had imagined.
