Skip bullet point if you don't care about intro.
- My friend started me in EVE and he kind of just threw me into the game with some basic knowledge and said have at it but you might not want to actually play until you've gotten some skills trained. So we've just been playing other games while we wait on this character but I want to make sure I'm doing this right. I found a site that tells me what skills actually do but I lost the link and can't for the life of me find it (so if someone has it that would be great).
Long story short am I doing this right for a pure missile Caldari pilot? I don't care about versatility or PvP yet or anything like that just want to get a feel for the game and from everything I see missiles are the easiest to get into (I also really like how the Caldari ships look). |

Don't do that. Knowledge about the game is often more important than your characters SP and you won't get that from playing Dota. Yes, there will be some things you can't do yet, but for most activities you don't actually need that many skillpoints to get started.

Looks good for a pure Caldari (and I think pure missile?) pilot. I would suggest training Hull Upgrades to IV, this gives you access to the Damage Control II which will be useful in many cases, especially since it's bonuses are not affected by stacking penalties with other modules. For the drones think about Drone Interfacing, gives you a solid dmg boost for the drones in a reasonable time (although drones are not so important anymore if you don't fly a droneboat of course, they are damn useful from time to time so Level IV is worth it for anyone imho). Then for the electronics stuff train Cloaking at least to I so you can use a cloak and Frequency Modulation and Signature Focussing to whatever you value them, both boost your Targetpainters Performance. For Navigation the Micro Jump Drive Skill would also be a good addition.
As it looks like you just train and wait atm, what about Cybernetics, at least to IV so you can plug in +4 Implants for INT/MEM/PER/WIL which will give you a nice boost in training speed (+360 SP/hour for around 3 days of training time and 80m isk)? And think about a remap, too. If you switch to INT/PER you will be faster (later you can switch to specific stats like PER/WIL for gunnery, missiles and spaceship command or INT/MEM for Electronics, Engineering and Navigation but for now INT/PER will be your best bet).

I will do exactly this at least until I run out of ingame cash for PLEX (which will be in ~3 years) because there's nothing that attracts me anymore...so what he/she does is OK. I'm so desperate I even have Fleet Command V in my queue. |
