Hey, folks! I've played EVE for 3 months and never fleet up with someone, because I don't know how in EVE people share mission\site reward\loot between one another if they've completed it together. So here's some questions: Is there any loot options like in WoW or everything is based on trust to another player? How it's going on usually? What types of scams are there related to this mechanics? Thanks. |

Loot sharing in EVE is a trust thing.
What some corpmates and I do is give the loot to... - the person who needs it the most - the person who lost something during the encounter/battle/circumstances related to gaining the loot - one person who then sells the loot and splits the isk made between all the people involved (applies usually to "special loot")

bounties are automatically shared between fleet
mission isk and LP can be shared equally if the person pulling the mission wants to
everything else is completely based on trust |

Trust, and friends, are more valuable in EVE than ISK
Example: when my corp was doing weekly "ops", we had two people Hoovering-up the loot and salvage, and when we were done for the night, we'd estimate value of everything collected and split the ISK, with one person keeping everything and paying the others their cut.
If someone wanted something that dropped, the estimated price would be deducted from their cut.
A typical split was 750 million to 1.4 billion ISK per person, and we never quibbled over amounts because we trust each other. |

As the veteran and usually the one with the deep pockets I mostly just take all the loot and salvage and give payouts to everyone else as I can afford to sit on the loot for a while and the newer players typically need the isk more.
Speed running missions is usually more isk anyway so you might be better off just leaving the loot. Another option is to have one person looting and salvaging and let them just keep it and not include them in the mission payouts or let them loot it and just pay everyone else out.
When I run null sec escalations with other players I'll usually take all the faction and deadspace mods as well as the overseers effects and total it up based on jita pricing. Then I'll divide by the number of players and pay them out. For example if there were 3 of us running the site and we got 600 million isk worth of faction and deadspace loot I'd payout each of the other two guys 200 million each and then keep the expensive loot and tell them that they could keep the rest of the loot or let it despawn I don't care.
Eve is a game about interactions with other people. It is intentionally left up to the players to figure this kind of stuff out. Eve is not the kind of game that will hold your hand and protect you from others nor protect you from yourself. Is it possible that when fleeting up with others that they could screw you over? sure it is that is part of the game. But if it happens you live and you learn and you move on. You can't let it prevent you from doing stuff with other people.
The beauty of this game is that we need other people but CCP does not work it out for us how it is that we work together. They let us work that out. That is what makes this game good. |

Friendship = best ship.
As mentioned.
When fleeted, bounties are always divided (up to 10 people in fleet) between the members.
When a mission is handed in, the person who hands it in has the option to keep it all for himself or share it (again, with up to 10 people).
Loot and Salvage however are items, so you have to split them up manually between the fleet members and thus is just a matter of trust and friendship to manage that.

Or if you are in same corp get a salvage corp to do the loot and salvage and pay the proceeds to you corp account to be split later.

Bounties are automatically shared, and as they are the main loot of (most) nullsec PVE, less trust is needed in those situations.
Incursion payments are awarded to each player.
Loot drops from player ships, structures and NPCs, and salvage are simply awarded by the game client to the first person (or Mobile Tractor Unit) to pick them up. If the person that acquires them sees fit, they can then give some or all of this loot to whomever they wish, and there may be social consequences for not doing so in a fleet operation. However, these consequences are *purely* social (i.e. the game client does not enforce any of them).
If, for instance, you and three other fleet members are roaming a wormhole killing anyone you find, you might deem it appropriate to share the loot to keep the allies on side. However, if you strike it rich and kill someone that drops a 10 billion ISK officer module, you should almost certainly betray your 'friends' and keep it.
Everyone has a price. Know yours in advance.

You can fleet up with strangers it is not inherently a bad idea. It does have it's risks but some of the most fun you will have in this game can come from fleeting up with strangers.
Some times you just have to take a chance or have faith in your instincts. You should not be afraid to fleet with strangers. Cautious yes, fearful no. |

First time I fleeted was with a complete stranger that was willing to trust me.
I still have him set +10 on my friends list after over 6 years.

Not true.
You just have to make sure how much trust you put in him/her.
