Edited by: Angelic Resolution on 15/10/2006 15:32:21 After many weeks of searching I've come accross a well used ship for looting. I've tried the badger, the badger mk2, sigil, osprey. They're all good to a certain extent... but this one ship out shines em all..
The Exequror.
Currently with cruiser IV, a local and a beta hull mod - 1.3k space, 170m/s. Playing around with this setup now..
4 tractors (Daar) 1 10 mn AB 2 Sensor boosters (Get those locking times down.. why not..) Eutic Cap recharger 2 Beta hull mods 1 Nanofiber
The ship itself can only have 5 max locked targets, with no lag you should be able to pop a can once every 1 second if you keep moving.. Going to loot an IO tomorrow to see how it goes :D

Sigil:
2x Tractor 1x 10mn ab II 5x nanofibers
Handles like a inty, and only requires amarr indy 1. Still has over 3k cargo space.

Max locked targets, 2. Takes a good 3 to 5 seconds to target the can and bring it over and with 5 nanofibers + ab you might aswell just fly to all the cans. Same thing I hated about it.. Most cans are clustered together, so I'd be sitting there waisting time targetting, tractoring, opening.. takes to long..
Update: Just looted the third level of GE.. took all of 2 minutes :D

Well i have a couple of different setups that I use for looting.
One is a scorpion with sensor boosters, 2 nanofibers and 2 expanders, MWD and tractor beams in high.
Sounds nuts but it locks 6 targets quickly and can loot most l4's in one go, and large ones in 2.
The other is an iteron 5 with two tractors, nanofibers and an afterburner. Lock speed is low and it actually takes longer than the scorpion for large missions.
Neither is optimal but I like using what I already have and can't be bothered to train specifically for anything else. I'm thinking about getting a second account soon, specifically so i can use an alt for looting.

Edited by: Peter Stuyvesant on 15/10/2006 16:01:25 I like a MWD and AB on my Exequror, Use the AB for normal looting then hit the MWD when you have to go 70km to get that one last can. A cargo scanner can be good to find out if its even worth going to get that last can ;)

Exequror would be great if it had twice its cargo space. Many of the lvl4 missions yield more than the Exeqror can carry though, so I am stuck with the Sigil for those :( --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

Thrasher with: -5 tractor beam
-1mn Burner -Cap Battery -Cap recharger
-2 Nanofibers
I get 5 targets, 5 tractor beams, near 700m/s and handling like a frig. Plus 400 m3 cargo space. Cant fit all ur loot? Tractor a can behind you while you gather the rest of the cans with the 4 other tractors. ======================== Entropy Tech. Oipo II - Moon 19 Ishukone Watch Logistics |

I like having a Cargo Scanner on my Exequror, so that I can check the contents of far away cans to see if I can be bothered picking them up.
I also use a MWD (and a cap battery), and loot after bookmarking each deadspace area with cans, and then finishing the mission so the cans drop back into normal space.
Some missions I use only nano's in the lows, others I use expanders (doing missions repeatedly teaches one which to use fairly well).

Personly, I find Exequror ugly. So ugly that I simply cant fly it (I tried many times)... So I'm using Stabber :). Only 800+ cargo, but 5 tractors and proper speed is enough for me.
P.S. Cap Battery have more advantages. Especialy if you add MWD for speed at gate runs .
P.P.S. Vexor is also good for same reasons .

Hallo, I am n00blet.
Could y'all explain how the looting of missions efficiently works? I'd like to speed my looting up if possible.
Also, is there a good Caldari ship for looting? -------------------------------------------------------- Working towards my own personal Dreadnought, one ISK at a time. |

Basically you set up a second ship to pick up all the cans.
As you run the mission you bookmark one of the cans in each room as you pass. Then you finish the missing and change ships into your loot hauler. Warp to your bookmark, suck in the cans asap and then haul it back to your base. This way you dont have to fly to all the cans in your slow mission runner that doesnt have much cargo space.

I've used a Omen with great effect as a canner, 5 tractors and 1100m3 with some named expanders, or 900ish with 1 nanofiber, which pushes it to some 5-600 m/s with AB.
It seems the amount of loot has increased recently though, so today i set up a Sigil for the job, as someone said above, 5 nanofibers is great. :)
I installed 2 tractors, 10 MN II, Sensor booster, 5 nanofiber. Locks in a couple of seconds, goes 890 m/s with AB, turns and handles like a frigate.
Having 5 tractors on the Omen was great and i've only tried the Sigil in 1 mission yet, but it feels like the extra speed and cargo outweighs the need to dock 2-3 times to empty cargo. This is only true for level 4's, for level 3's the Omen was simply great, i used 2*nano fibers and 3 expanders then.

I use my alt sometimes to collect the loot npcs drop in 0.0. I can't really be bothered to collect non-faction spawn drops in a bs anyway. He is using a prorator with following setup:
1x tractor beam 1x 10mn mwd, 1x whatever 4x nanofiber
Fast hauler with a bit over 3k cargo and some durability in case it gets shot at.

But i think a specially fitted Typhoon might be even better...

Omen: 5x Tractor Beams 1x 10MN MWD 2x Med Cap Battery 5x Expanded Cargoholds
Gets a little over 1,000m3 cargo space, and about 1,000m/sec with the MWD. The 2 cap batteries let you run the MWD for quite a while, so getting to containers that are far away isn't a problem.

There is a tech II targeting module that gives +1 targets. This would be very useful on indy looters as they usually have a locked targets cap of 2... take that up to four and you can be locking your next pair of cans while the two tractors are hauling cans in.

Being able to lock 3+ targets on an indy is rather moot since it can only mount 2 tractors beams anyway. :) With my indy it's quite effective to lock and tractor 2 cans while drive to a 3rd. :)

Thoughts on the Comorant as a looter?
It has a comparatively tiny cargohold, but you could fit 8 Tractors (I think). -------------------------------------------------------- Working towards my own personal Dreadnought, one ISK at a time. |

I'm for Exeq. It does it all and does it well. There are ships that fit more Tractors-Stabber, Scorp, etc. There are ships with better hold capacities-all the indies. There are faster ships-a lot.
But when you combine 1500 m3 of cargo with 400 m/s (w/AB), and 4 tractors you have imo the best looter. Usually can loot all stages of a big mission in one go-if I can't I drop off stupid big stuff like Cap Booster charges or something and it all fits. The other thing that is cool about it is that it goes just the right speed to not outrun the tractors and lose cans (like Stabber does) while still moving quickly enough to not waste time.

Yes! The fetch-lizard > all others for looting.
Why use sensor boosters? With sig analysis cargo cans are pretty much insta-lock anyways.
I use a cap battery and rechargers to keep an mwd running for the gaps between can-clumps.

Doesn't have the PG left for 8 after you fit an AB/MWD to it and with only 1 low slot, you don't want to be tying it up with a MAPC. Besides it can only lock 7 targets.
I run mine with 7 tractor beams, a MWD, cap recharger, expanded cargo hold and use a medium can in the hold to give me that little extra space.
