Which modules are not needed or should be changed? just got into a golem and looking to run some high sec lvl4 missions in it, i would like to be able to complete the missions in an acceptable time frame but at the moment it seems like it takes forever to get from a to b hence the mjd it also seems fragile even with bastion on so i think i have an inferior fit. Missions would be varied ie not specific to one corp/area so i would be fighting all rats blood serps sansha etc. any advice would be greatly appreciated. oh i would rather not spend billions on bling either.

I run a close setup. You could probably lose the shield boost amplifier. With Bastion Mode, your shield booster should be plenty. I run a Pithi C-type medium shield booster myself and I've never been in trouble. Triggering all waves in the last room of extravaganza can be tough, but manageble. I have a cap recharger II where you have the amplifier, but a third target painter could also be put there. I also use Invulns instead of your EM wards and Large Hydraulic Bay Thruster II and Large Rocket Fuel Cache Partition II in the rigs. |

Ok , sounds like you just got into a Golem. Gratz :-)
It will take some time to get used to the Golem so I recommend a strong tank to start off with. Drop the "bcs I" and add a "dcu II" it makes the tank stronger with a large boost to effective health(buffer) plus it adds a bit of anti gank. Odds are you will never notice the loss of the 4th bcs, if it took 3 volleys to destroy an npc it will still take 3 volleys to kill an npc. it will be rare when that tiny dps loss would have made a diff in amount of volleys needed to destroy an npc.
Drop the em ward amplifiers II and the sheild boost amplifier. Use two Adaptive Invulnerability field (cal navy or guristas version work well, guristas are ~200 mill). In place of the sheild boost amp, I would use a target painter or mayby a cap booster.
In the highs I run 3 tractors to speed up the looting/salvaging, I rely on salvage drones which work quite well and are very cheap if you lose a few here and there. The best thing about a mtu is not its tractor but its auto loot which is a time saver.
I use a MWD not a MJD, the tank on a Golem is actually quite strong. I manage triggers or sometimes not, sit in a spot kill/salvage(drones)/tractor/mtu all at the same time. when all is dead I move on. Most of the time everything is looted salvaged when last npc is destroyed, takes a bit of practice and knowing the mission.

Upgrade the rigs to Rigor II's, drop the Damage Control (unless you have really **** tanking skills) for 4th BCU, 3rd TP vs. SBA is a close match, depending on skills. Otherwise that's perfect. |

as it stands now the hp of the golem is at 29k if i turn on the dc2 and adaptive invulnerabilty 2's the hp is 59k during the mission the shields came down quite rapidly however i did not have bastion turned on. i also found the ship to be rather sluggish which i did not enjoy at all. Maybe i should look towards a Machariel, will that survive lvl4's? thank you for the replies so far they have been helpful.

It's somewhat agile with Nomad implants and V skills in some key areas, though. The problem is that battleships were always a bit sluggish for the most part, and the warp speed changes certainly didn't help. If you want an "all-in-one" ship for fully completing missions and salvaging (not blitzing), the Golem is going to be hard to beat with it's expanded cargo space. If you want a ship for just blitzing missions, the Machariel is probably going to be more suited. If you want a ship that cranks out the absolute maximum DPS over range the Rattlesnake will fit the bill.
I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

I recommend rigor rigs, tech II are best. The problem with cruise missiles are they are awefull at taking down small fast elite frigs for example. Rigor rigs and target painters allow you to deal quickly with frigs while your salvage drones are salvaging. If you dont loot and salvage then use tech II drones to deal with frigs and change your rigs to damage/range/vel etc etc.
Use large or med cap booster, the only reason to use cap booster is for those oh **** my cap is draining to fast to run my sheild booster moments. Golem works best with pulsing the sheild booster, so I would look for a booster that repairs sheilds the most rather than one that uses less cap.
I use a 100 MWD, now with all things you try to find balance so the better your MWD the less hit to your cap you will take, you can take zero hit to your cap with a deadspace MWD but are you willing to pay the price for it.
The Golem is sluggish as are most other ships in the battleship class, execption being the Mach. When I want to loot/salvage I will pull out a marauder, If I just want to kill/blitz I will pull out the Mach/Tengu/ or Assault Frig. Depending on my mood or mission I reach into the hanger and use the ship to match.
