It's worth understanding the mechanics before making statements, especially in the forum where a lot of people know the mechanics very well.

He is not wrong, just an @sshole. My mistake was a matter of phrasing and clarification. You managed to correct it in a way I would expect of someone who interacts with more than his internet spaceships all day. Thank you.
That aside, I still agree with the overall sentiment of the OP in regard to crimewatch. However, I can see some have a lot in their life riding on this, so i will take my horse and mozey on over somewhere else.

I regard Hengle as a friend and not an @******* at all. I don't think he has sand in his vagina either.
But then, I don't see you as stupid or acting that way either.
Maybe language both ways could be different, even when you don't start it.
Everyone learns the mechanics in different ways. I know I've learnt a heap of them in the forum and made many posts that were later corrected, which is perfectly fine.
My view on this thread is the OP, attempting to be effectively a bounty hunter has become frustrated with the killright system. My perspective is it isn't so much a problem with killrights, but with bounty hunting as a profession. There really aren't mechanics that support the profession, though Eve is the perfect environment for it. I wish the profession had more love from CCP so more players could take it up as a sustainable career.

KR have been largely useless for a long time. KR are only a HS issue. The People who have KR on them already tend to be KOS for their negative sec status. Rarely do you find someone with KR on them that is not KR baiting and is flying in a ship that is worth paying isk to activate the rights. Of course, there are exceptions. Once I actually caught an idiot in a JF with 10mil KR on him, but that is so rare as to not be worth mentioning. So yea KR are broken. But in the long run it doesnt matter much b/c if you want pew pew just go to low/null/wh.

The idea of bounty hunting as a "profession" is clearly something of a joke. When bounties were modified there was alot of teeth nashing in HS but it was clear that the changes would amount to nothing because they did not provide for any aggro acquisition methods. Thus, as long as a person stays in hs bounties against them are meaningless. Even if the target is flying a bling ship, the bounty is likely still meaningless because the person is not being targeted because of the bounty but rather because of the ship they are in. Bounties are now simply a way to troll new players coming from other games who think bounties have significance.

Paying attention is hard. not a matter of paying attention, its when you want to go bounty hunting and every killright you find is 1b+ and when you finally find someone with a low or 0 killright their gone. its annoying. when your "bounty hunting" consists entirely of checking for targets on trade hub undocks, what do you expect to find? They are along trafficked routes too. You can find them at gates in any medium or above traffic system. What you have described though is not a player problem but a problem with the bounty hunting system. The best way to score bounty kills is to camp around the higher trafficked systems. There isn't much incentive to search through lesser populated areas.

This topic can be summed up as "Free killrights for the proletariat, Comrades!"
Seriously, what is wrong with people making some money off selling kill rights they have? If it's too expensive... don't buy it.

Someone earned me a kill right on them the other day. And I don't know how, I wasn't even logged in at the time. Figuring he didn't really deserve it cause he didn't shoot at me. I have set the kill right cost to 300 mil. If someone really wants to kill him that badly why can't I profit. And well in the other respect it acts as a deterrent to the frugally minded. |

Spaceman Jack wrote:So I decided to try this criminal hunting thing and saw a lot of silly bastards in Jita/Amar with killrights in the half billion ISK range.
Clearly, bait/scam - as most are just sitting in empty industrials or freighters and have nothing but losses.
This is so lame for EVE - EVE should have the kind of balls that would make all killrights free. The only option for them should be: available or not available - but allowing such a high price for them is just asking for a system to fail.
Come on CCP. Let's do something more interesting here. Cap or remove the killrights payout that is clearly going to the corp-mates/alt. I can't imagine this type of baiting is what you had in mind when your top brains came up with a new criminal system to "encourage" PVP.
TL;DR - Make killrights free. There is honestly no reason to require a payout that gets exploited more than used.
I set all my killrights to 0 isk and all. You're welcome.

PS my alt makes ISK with killrights which I use to buy more cheap ships to die in and subsequently get podded.

I once had a killright on me, but I could never figure out why. I just logged in one day and had an email from Concord saying that I had a killright issued to me against somebody.
Now, I was in lowsec at the time, but I was still fairly certain I hadn't engaged with anyone last time I logged in. I checked to make sure all my ships were still in the hanger. Yes, they were. I checked my combat log to see if I had any losses, I had none. For the life of me I just couldn't figure out where that killright came from.
I set the killright to 1 million isk, and it never got used anyway.

Shooting a capsuleer in highsec will have them get a killright on you whether you die or not.
