The V.R you think you know, is not the V.R. of today. It's not about the next fad, or the new cool thing, it's about escapism and environment immersion. Graphics so realistic you get lost in the experience. There is and will be a HUGE demand for it.

Haven't bought a tv lately, eh? Multiple actually. None of which are 3d. Wanna take bets on how many people will confirm having actually watched something 3d on their tv in the last week? You think it's gonna be a majority percentage? Hmmm, my kids watch 3d movies on our set in the living room all the time. It's a little bit difficult to find a decent TV anymore without that capability... unless you want bargain basement bin stuff. It seems like more and more companies are coming out with VR headsets that keep getting better, lighter, and cheaper. I suppose time will tell, but the entertainment industry seems to have pretty much made up it's mind that it's happening.

I have a TV. It's a 27" CRT and it's been sitting in a closet for the last ten years.
Am I trying to make a point, here?
Yes. A TV...any TV... is a relic of the past. Like having a land line phone. They're just something old people keep buying out of habit.
The discussion shouldn't be about what kind of TV to own. It should be about whether to own one at all. When you add up the cost of the set along with the outrageous cable bills and come to realize you are paying more to watch a movie on the telly than in a theater, I think the answer is obvious.
I mean, seriously. Anyone reading this has fast internet and thus access to more visual media (for free) than they have enough time left in their life to watch. Save yourself a few hundred dollars a month and unplug, people!

There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass!

You want CCP to do our job for us? Odd position to take, but to each their own.
No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff | No-one hates you, none of us care enough for that.

CCP has to diversify, they can't rely on a single product for ever and survive, they have done extraordinarily well out of EvE while competitors such as NCSoft and Perfect World have to shovel-ware titles every year to maintain a financial foothold.
E***e has huge historical/emotional following in Europe and poses a very real threat to competing products, CCP has to face this threat to survive. As much as it may irk some players to see them developing other titles, it must happen. |

Probably about 80-90% of the CCP staff could use a few public speaking courses before the next Fanfest and a maybe exempt a few of the ones that are really horrible from even having to get on stage.
But I cut them a bit of slack and don't watch live so I can just skip ahead at the really painful parts. I totally skipped Hilmar this year. Does he still make everyone do the embarrassingly awful wave thing? |

A 27" CRT is also my only TV. I keep mine plugged in though, for when I want to watch my VHS tapes or play an old SNES or Sega game.
I watch my DVDs on my 27" QHD computer monitor usually. No need for a flatscreen. Don't care about 3D. Doesn't add much to the experience in the theater, just the ticket price.
I'd like to try out VR sometime though.

We've done 3d projection systems aplenty. Today the rave is ginormous touch screens. I'm talking 60, 70, 80 (and recently demoed 108") touchscreens! So big you have to take a cabbie to touch the other end of the screen.
I tried Eve on the 80", and for the first time actually liked the radial menu. Whole new experience. Bring on the 4k graphics engines and hold on to your *****... |
