Ok, so I am a pod pilot. I command ships of tens to thousands of souls NOT floating in pod goo. I suck at being a pod pilot sometimes. If I am responsible for constantly loosing ships and getting mass amounts of crewman killed, why would anyone want to be recruited on my next voyage. Even if i am in the military of whatever faction, wouldn't they retire me (or hang me) before i destroy another ship? I'm sure word gets around. Anything like this happen in Eve Lore? |

Maybe if you tried tightening them up, you'd lose less crew.

All the crew on my ship are just clones, produced en-masse like in planetary distracts for the ongoing surface battles. Sure, you pay a little extra, but at least I haven't ruined tens of thousands of homes and families. Jerk. |

I fight in a war over whether or not it is ok to make pot noodles in a sacred tea pot. We lose 100s of ships per day. Many are frigs with just us inside, but there are ample amounts of cruisers, BCs, and BSes. All those normal people... They too believe in the right to make pot noodles in the sacred tea pot. They understand. |

All of my ships/stations have an ample amount of escape pods, and all of my citizens/crewmen are drilled daily in evacuation procedures. We even design in a surplus of escape modules in case we have other people on board. Just because we are an evil organization, doesn't mean we don't care about our people.
To this day, The Troll Bridge's civilian casualty count is the lowest of any corporation.
We also give full health, dental and vision benefits to all of our employees and their families, as well as full ride scholarships to universities for all children of employees, as well as free henchmen training academies. All equipment for work is paid for by our company. Here at The Troll Bridge, we feel that its our people who help make us the dominant behind the scenes force of evil in New Eden, and we do everything we can for them.
Now, as for the 'firing of inept employees, who explode stations so hard that it ends up shattering wormholes (mainly Randy),out of festival launcher' metrics.. I have no comment.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Has anyone ever done the math on the avg number of crew aboard a ship multiplied by the number of ships destroyed in the history of eve? Then we could truly get the scale of carnage we should be sad about.
Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

I believe numbers were ran for the last big battle, as well as the realworld cash.
In the books when korvin lears opened up fire on other gallente ships to save a caldari badge full of civilians "because the gallente heard there were officers of the caldari navy onboard", his crew quickly abandoned ship and his guns went dry as we attacked his fellows to keep them from getting a shot before fleeing and finding himself out in mordu space.
so yes there is some lore about crews getting off of the ships in certain times, and id like to believe that crews that know their capsuleer captain is going on a suicide trip, just prep the ship and which them luck and the crew stays at station waiting lol

It would have been a great feature of the game to have variable levels of crew loyalty. If you are a crap pilot who has a reputation of brainlessly throwing ships into a meat grinder then your crew will abandon early, leaving launchers to go dry. But if you manage to keep your ships together you get to retain a more experienced crew. In the former case, what does it matter? Everything's overheated anyway and you are going to die anyway. In the latter case you get benefits from a more experienced crew who trusts their captain.
Yeah I know I know. Muh ISK, Muh stats. No immersion just numbers hurf blurf sperg sperg.

No I actually kind of like that idea, gives me a bit of a civilization vibe. Not that EvE is Civ 5, nor should it be. But I like the idea, perhaps I will just roleplay it for myself as I haven't even thought of a crew being on board. I always thought of myself as just being in my pod controlling everything with my mind (especially from the descriptions given in boosters).
I take that back, I have ONCE thought about a crew being on board. While ship spinning in station with my corax I was admiring how much it looks like a real life naval vessel and I imagined where the crew would be and what they'd be doing in certain parts of the ship.

I personally donate one ISK to each family of a crewman that dies on one of my ships.
I hear that's like a decade of dirtside money, so I figure that's good.
