"Silicon is the base material used in computer chips. Next to oxygen, it is the most abundant element in nature and is found in a natural state in rocks and sand."
No it's not! :)
Hydrogen is the most abundant, followed by helium, if you go on a universal scale... and Eve is certainly universal :)

I get the feeling the "In Nature" bit has some sort of importance here...
Perhaps because by saying "In Nature" they mean "On planets"?
And I'm only guessing here... But is Hydrogen the most common element? Hydrogen gets fused into Helium, and Helium then gets fused... And everything gets fused until it has the most stable atomic structure. Which just happens to be Iron. So doesnt that suggest iron 'should' be the more prevalent?

Hydrogen is indeed the most abundant in our universe. But who's saying it's the most abundant in the EVE-universe?

Me. I am saying it.
isnt it based in our universe? Different galaxy and time, but same universe?

They're talking about planets, like Earth, not the universe.

Vaporized silicon is what makes up all that space air we have to deal with. That's why it's so abundant. ---------- My sig is boring. |

No it isn't, it's a crumby dusty little star cluster a few lightyears across.
Eve isn't even galactic, let alone universal :P

the wonderful stuff that fake boobies are made out of is silicone, which is a biological compound not an element
and i believe the "in nature" bit could possibly be referring to stuffs on earth, not including the atmosphere, which esentially makes the quote correct

Hydrogen and helium are indeed the most abundant elements (by mass). However, the vast majority of hydrogen and helium are found in stars. Let's just say that it's kind of difficult to harvest hydrogen from a star hot enough for fusion to occur. The only places you could easily harvest hydrogen is from Jovian planets, but seeing how Jove space is currently unreachable, it's hard to harvest that too .
Oxygen and Silicon are the most abundant elements found on planets. Feldspar (that's spelled correctly, boys and girls) and quartz are both composed of mostly silicon and oxygen (in fact quartz is entirely silicon and oxygen). Feldspar alone accounts for 60% of Earth's crust.

2 big things.
1) most H exists in giant clouds, aka nebulae, that form stars within them. He, however, is mostly found in stars, since it can't exist without them.
2) O2 is not the most abundant element found on planets. Aside from Earth, please name one planet with a high concentration of O2. And Feldspar is not either. Check the mass of Jupiter, which contains no known Feldspar, or Si of any sort, against the mass of the rest of the rocks in the solar system. I'll give you a hint, Jupiter wins by a landslide, and that's not even taking the rest of the gas giants into account.
