Anti Macro Proposal - To all Miners
The plan:
Create a new corp, ôMacroers Nightmareö (or something similar). It's purpose will be to hunt down the macro miners and give the real miners their profession back. All interested parties should take a combat character and join.
A web site should be created to obtain Intel, with a public forum to receive reports possible sightings of the hated ones.
Upon verification, an operative should be scheduled to take down macro-miner groups.
All loot should be donated back to the corp to replace all the ships that gonna get concordokken in the en devour. Plus some % should be kept to refund any Innocent's barge that may get WTFPWENED accidentally due to faulty Intel.
Additional Logistics:
The person creating the corp should train high levels of Corp Management and Ethnics Relations.
Location agents should be used to follow the hated ones accross empire and study they tactics.
The hated ones should not be poded. That will cause the standings to go down way too fast and limit the access to high sec space. And anyways, is really fun to watch the poded macroer warping back and forth the whole day.
Every squad should have a designated loot picker that wont engage in combat. Hey, if everybody get's concorddokken, who gonna pick up the loot?
And a few words of caution:
Do not hit the same macro-miner over and over again, as that could be grounds for a harrasment petition.
My personal opinion:
Eventually, you will realise that the macro-miners won't stop ever. But by that time you will also realise that blowing stuff up is a lot more fun than mining. Your adquired ganking experience plus the low sec standing will encourage you to take your macro-killer character into low sec space and discover a universe beyond the empire.
Sincerly,

Originally by: Elgar Lightfoot That is exactly what I mean. You dont knwo they are using macros. In fact if you are mining in a barge you'd be stupid to attempt to fight anyeon who steals your ore.
If you are mining in a barge you won't continue to do so for 60 minute as someone is emptying your can as soon as you fill it, leaving only one unit of Veldspar in it so it doesn't pop. Real miners also pop rats instead of tanking them, and have a tendency to use mining drones to maximize output (we're talking highsec here). Macroers don't use mining drones as they would get popped by rats and either have a few combat drones or just permatank the rats.
I stole from a Covetor team for more than 60 minutes a few nights ago. They finally left when the controller came back from his lunch pause (my guess) and saw there was nothing left to haul. From my experience the barges once positioned run completely on macro and the controller mans the hauler. Farming operations can then have one sweatshop worker handling 5-6 Covetors at once, maybe even more if one man more than one hauler at time.
And there is a blurb in my bio saying that I only steal from macros, if I make a mistake I'll pay best market price for the ore I stole. In about 6 months it happened exactly once.

Originally by: Dwight Hammerhead Noob corps are the bane of this game. Steal enough of their ore, use it to build a smartbom apoc, get them all with it
I'm with this guy. Steal a mountain of ore, sell and buy a BS (or refine and buld BS), fit with as many smartbombs as will fit, and kablammo. If you don't want the security hit, there are plenty of people who will do it for you, if you provide the ship. And the macroers are paying for the ship that'll blow them up -----------------------------------------------

name one online rpg game without macro'ers or farmers.. only thing you can do is to visit thier belt from time to time. and move their cargo into a container of yours. then let it explode if they dont take it. that would be ilegal. since you dont profit from it. and stealing ore's arent ilegal is it?

Would be kewl if CCP could offer some kind of bounty for turning in macro miners/isk farmers/sellers. You gather as much info as possible and include it all in a petition. CCP staff does a little research. If CCP determines you busted a cheater you get a bounty.
The more info you can provide, the easier it will be for them to research, the greater the chance of a bounty payout.

You can't even get a dread into Jita.
You wonder why people think the whole macro issue might be blown out of proportion. ___________________________________________ The deeper you stick it in your vein, the deeper the thoughts there's no more pain. ___________________________________________

Here's how to tell your target is a macro miner.
Suicide Gank his covetor.
Watch as his pod warps to station, docks, undocks and flys back to the roids/ice and sits there for a while, then does it again...
Also, you can in fact steal all the ore you want from macro miners. However you have to petition them as macro miners first. Once you have done that, you are simply an ore thief.

i just traveled 4 jumps in high sec. in2 systems i met groups of ships. one group was named like mmm nnn jjj lll and so on. the other slightly different. what other purpose can those chars have than macro mining. dont tell me there sits somebody who emties all those cargoes into the container by hand. it doesnt happen. as far as ihave seen even the hauler doesnt need to be steered by hand. it all is possible with the macros. its a huge problem. yeah i repeat myself here.

Edited by: Elgar1 on 26/10/2006 17:44:44 There are some very good points in here that clearly ARE macro miners, however the majority of players never see one and just attach the tag to everyone they see when they feel like causing a little grief.
Players go out to 'test' for macro miners. I have no problem with this (as it's permitted by CCP), so long as you are willing to bite your tongue, apologize and make amends to anyone you harass who isn't a macro miner.
If you sit there constantly emptying the miners can, and he just keeps refilling it, then you can pretty much bet he is a macro-er. Petition him and do as you please.
Due to the amount of griefing miners won't aggro on you for taking their ore, simply because 9 times out of 10 you will have a bigger ship ready to destroy them or you are capable of doing it yourself. Bottom line is no miner is going to fight back as they know they will lose.
If a miner does agro on you, then you should either be prepared to let them kill you, or at the very least run away and leave them in peace.
If you want to go around 'testing' for macro's then you should be ready to pay compensation to the innocent miners you harass along your way. You made the mistake, you harassed them, you should pay amends.
As to the farming, I hate it and I'd love to see some 'fix' put in to prevent it, But a fix that doesn't nerf the rest of us miners. Farming itself isn't a breach of any rules. The selling of the ISK is, but thats the offence, not the mining/farming.
EDIT: I don't use mining drones myself as I find the measly yield the give to be a waste of time when compared to strips, but in general I do kill rats, however if I find I could tank them then I likely will in the future. No point in killing them to have them respawn and attack my hauler. In some people's eyes I'd look like a macroer simply because I'm not killing rats or using mining drones. You can NOT tell what is a macro just because of what they use or how they act.
The only sure fire way I can see is by emptying their can repeatedly with no reaction from them (after attempting to talk to them and failing).

You are making assumptions which are almost certainly wrong. They are almost certainly farmers as they have no pride in naming their characters, but to assume they are also macro's is just wrong.
Farmers != Macro's.
In fact macro's are MORE likely to have real names because in general macroing is less efficient than manual mining.
Players macro to accumulate wealth and most often will be doing it for greed, while having proper names for their characters.
Farmers do the whole thing manually as strip the belts as fast as they can. They do it unassisted to achieve the fastest through-put of ore that is possible.
