So I've finished training my shield tanking skills to t2. Now I'm looking at gunnery skills/drone skills. I'm assuming it would be a good idea to get my gunnery skills maxed out as a minmatar Pilot. Or at least to 4. My question points to controlled bursts. Does it even do anything for a minmatar Pilot? Don't their turrets just not use cap?
Also my second question, would I be okay with drone support skills to 4, interfacing to 5 and t2 light and medium drones?
I mostly plan on working my way up the ship levels running missions and then get into some pvp eventually. What are your opinions? |

Controlled bursts does not affect projectile weapons as they use no cap to begin with.
Your plan for your drone skills seems solid. |

the scrap yard is that way ----> choose your ship
to answer your question, if you are mapped for gunnery, do controlled bursts, they wont effect you at the moment but there will come a time when you change to hybrids or lasers.
Drones are a little different. advanced drone interfacing to 4 is pretty normal as is drone durability, racial specs to 4 too normally. unless you mine dont train mining drones. unless you do fleet stuff dont bother with rep drones and unless you salvage as you go using a single combat ship dont train salvage drones.
As for the rest of the sub cap drone skills, if you plan on using drones a lot, all the rest to 5. otherwise put sentrry and heavy to 4 and the rest to 5. T2 heavies are sexy though in certain situations. sentries got a nerf but are still very useful |

Early in your eve career, you will take most skills to IV, then pick and choose what goes to V. There comes a point where you prioritize. Medium weapons or large weapons V Frigate, or cruiser V BC or BS V Train what you fly the MOST. accordingly.

I would say having t2 small and medium drones is a must for every pilot regardless of being pve or pvp oriented. Going higher depends on whether you wil use heavies/sentries or not. At least at the beginning, eventually you will train them all anyway.
As for guns, if you run missions you already have some kind of guidance of ships you gonna need now and in the future. So think about what is your objective here. I'm guessing it's getting into L4s but on your way there you have L1 - L3 ladder. And for cruiser/BC hulls you need medium guns so do you need t2 small guns now? Maybe it's better to start those t2 mediums and get them few days earlier?
For example, on this character I trained t2 guns up to mediums but I was lowsec pirate back then. On my mission running character I trained small and medium guns well enough to just get by L1 - L3 missions and then went for t2 large autos and then arties. Eventually I got back to training t2 mediums but that was after I got all gunnery support skills to V. As result I was running L4s with properly fit BS (t2 gank, tank, core and fitting skills at IV and some already at V) and I could get back into filling blanks on "lower tier education". But that was after I cross trained into gallente ships because I wanted to fly awesome machariel :)
So basically as RavenPaine said: depends on what you do and what you fly to do it and what are your priorities and tastes.

What I'm currently doing is using a thrasher of lvl 1's, was thinking about the stabber for lvl 2' and then the maelstrom for early lvl 4's. Which ship would you guys recommend for lvl 3's?
And I'm just training the gun skills to 4 for now while I work on other things. When I get to lvl 4's I'll train for the large projectiles And then work on my gunnery skills. |
