Almost to level 4 missions currently, and have been doing missions with my friends, but he is no longer on all the time. I have BS to lvl 5, but BC to lvl 3. I wanted to fly only the battle ships in prep for lvl 4s. I started off as industy worker so my skills atm are not the best. I have lvl 4 on large turrets training to lvl 5 and will be done in 2 weeks. Should I wait to do that or should I buy a BC and start the grind to lvl 4s? For med turrets I have lvl 3 and also I have sentry drones and t2 light drones. I have ISK to do whatever so buying a ship is not the problem, just I have noone to play with and the in game community is not that helpful. |

Your question wasn't really clear, I'm going to assume you are asking if you should use a BC or BS for level 3s.
BC is better for levels 3s. Travel time in missions and warp time to and from missions will be cut down considerably compared to a BS.

Oh, if you haven't really run any missions you probably don't have the standings to run level 3s or 4s unless you ran a bunch with your friend and he was sharing the standing increase.
But either way I would start with level 2s in a cruiser. Then move on to level 3s and 4s. Use this site as a guide if you prefer to have your hand held, if you prefer surprises and the possibility of losing your ship then don't use it and just go for it. I have done it both ways and TBH it is much more fun to go in blind and just have at it. That being said it is much more efficient to use the guide and run missions as quickly as possible so that you can do other things because eventually it will get boring unless gaining a x% efficinecy by slightly changing your fits/tactics is something you enjoy.
You seem to be saying you are having trouble finding people to play with. PVP is the easiest way to find friends. Consider joining RvB or Faction Warfare. Both are good place to get you PVP feet wet as well as meet new people.

I have done up to lvl 3s in a cruiser with a friend. Just never really soloed before and I found out that 3s in a cruiser are not the best idea. I tried doing them in a maller but i couldnt out damage anything and would constantly need to go back and find myself just doing nothing. |

Yeah there is variation in the difficulties so some level 3s can be done in a cruiser solo, but generally it's:
Level1s: Frigate/Destroyer Level2s: Destroyer/Cruiser Level3s: HAC/BC Level4s: BS
There are exceptions, a fully skilled Gila can run all levels fairly efficiently, but a proplerly setup BS will still run level4s more efficiently.

Thanks! You have helped me a lot. Most guides go with a harbi. So ill just work with what I got and grind out until I can finally effectively use my BS that I have been waiting to use.

Glad I could help, but don't pigeon hole yourself into missioning, do other stuff too.

Just going on what you said of what you have trained, you seem to be training an awful lot of offence. The leap in damage from T1 meta4 guns (regular/faction ammo) to T2 guns (regular/faction ammo) is not as great as you might think or hope. However the leap in defence one gets going from T1 to T2 defencive mods and the core skills that go to support them is very noticable.
Whether your armor tanking or shield, look at the defensive certificates for the ship and try to skill up with balance. A great offence is nothing without a good defence. |

As others have said, BC hull for Lv 3s. In most instances, the Drake or Myrm will be your best choice. Don't move into Lv 4s before your drone skills are very good (T2 drones) or prepare for explosions to scramming rats.
A better piece of advice is to find a corp of like-minded peeps to play with. EVE is pretty lame as a solo game bro.

why not join a corp ?? Feel free to stop by in game chat "The Staging Pot" and we will assist where we can, or feel free to mail me. helpmymission chat is also a great place to get help.
How was your maller fit ? I would suggest getting a BC and running some lvl3's solo, a BC will make it easy. also use the mission guides to see triggers, etc. If you battle to run lvl3's in a battle cruiser solo, do NOT do lvl 4's in a Battleship, also don't do lvl3's in a battleship.

Estella Osoka wrote:Svipul and Confessor run L3s rather nicely. Agree with this but the smaller ships are more skill intensive to achieve the same results.
If your current corp is about things other than mission running I suggest you find a mission group or player to fly with. Remember for missions you do not need to be in the same corp to fleet up and fly together so you do not even have to leave your current corp to do this.
I enjoy helping players in these situations, so I will offer up as well. Shoot me mail or convos if I am online and ask questions. Joining for missions is possible depending on time zone and what your primary area of space is.
Overall there are many great suggestions here so the only other advice I have is to keep asking questions, keep looking into all things mission related online as there is a wealth of information available, but most of all hang in there. I promise that at some point in the not to distant future you will look back on these days and wonder how and why it was so hard.

I have ISK to do whatever so buying a ship is not the problem, just I have noone to play with and the in game community is not that helpful. I currently play only in FW. But in an earlier incarnation I went the mission route. Things have changed since the many years back when I used to do level 4s. However, some things remain pertinent.
If you have BS 5 then you are sitting pretty well for level 4s. You don't need tech II weapons, but they will speed up your completion times so continue to train into them. You don't say what race of BS 5 you have. I going to guess you are Gallente or Amarr BS 5 because you trained sentry drones and t2 light drones.
Regardless, don't bother for now with BC. Conversely, unless it has already changed, you will need to train up the entire gunnery tree in order to use tech II large guns of whatever kind. So you will have to train med "x" 5 and then the spec for that gun to 4 before you can train the large tech II variant. Also, there are some gunnery support skills that must be at 5 in order to use the tech II guns.
A Navy Domi can make good use of tech II guns and tech II sentries. You will also want to train the micro jump drive skill. In my day we did not have MJDs. But they are golden for level 4 missioning. Sniping after a MJ will make almost every mission so much easier. It allows you to sit at range and kill frigates(which scram and ewar), then cruisers(which ewar), then BCs which often have high damage, then the BSs. Also, don't forego maxing the cap skills.
So go ahead and take the leap to level 4s (unless your support skills are totally inadequate). Just go to the eve-survival site and read up on the mission before you accept it. Use the mission write-ups to plan your strategy before you go in. Know what the triggers are. And if you do **** up a trigger and/or your tank start breaking hit your MJD and after you land warp out.
As for buddies, just join the recruiting chat channels or look at corp adverts. There are sometimes down sides to corps as a high sec player (wardecs). But the upsides of people to talk with and learn from outweigh those.
You will likely at some point get bored with missions. But until you do, enjoy them, and make friends. Someday you will find pvp more exciting. And when that happens you will be glad for all the skills you already trained while missioning.
CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting-áoff button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.
