So before it starts, I thought I'd start it for once
On Saturday night the clocks will be going back 1 hour.
The EVE cluster runs on GMT, UTC or ZULU time. This means it doesn't go back 1 hour, it's clock never changes.
The UK is currently on BST (British Summer Time, GMT+1) and reverts back to GMT.
Main land europe is currently on CEST (Central European Sommer time, GMT+2) and reverts back to CET (Central European time, GMT+1).
So don't be surprised when, all of a sudden, the EVE server downtime is one hour earlier.
I wonder how many threads will be started regarding winter/summer time this autumn --

Of course, downtime is 5-6am for me, so I'll never know the difference. .

Living, as I do, a couple of miles from Greenwich I'm about to leave BST and enter GMT. I prefer BST. At least then I can have my lunch at 12. In GMT, I have to luncheon at 11 to get it over with before the servers come back up.
And <pedant>UTC (ZULU) is not the same as GMT</pedant>.

No matter what you do, someone will invariably get confused and post a new thread to keep the one posted five minutes earlier company. Sun goes up, Sun goes down, and *that* at least, will probably never change.

So my DT is 7-8am. Or 6-7am.

I'm a simple man, and Time zone differences confuze me. I'll be happy when EVE and UK time are the same again so I don't have to think about it. ----- Move along, nothing to see here... |

The clocks go back Sunday morning not Saturday night. At 1am to be precise.

Don't take your time zone for granted. Those of us in Indiana lost our DST-free zone and now have to switch like the rest of the tards.

I gave up trying to explain how summer time works about two years ago. No matter how much we all explained it, some people didn't understand. And considering people regularly get the DT wrong as it is, not counting those who had no clue there was a daily DT, I'm sure we'll see a lot more threads.
I will sit in a corner, shiver and possibly cry until the madness is over.

Lol looks like it's give Wrangler a HUG day so instead of it being GMT can we rename it WHD?

In Arizona we want reverse daylight savings time. The earlier the sun sets in the summer the better, so it starts to cool off, and already its dark by 6pm, and the weather is SOOO nice right now!!! I want to fall ahead and spring back!!! Or is it...gah, never mind!

Wrangler,
Why not put the current 'EVE Time' on the login page of the client? If you still list the daily DT in the MOTD box every day (haven't been on around DT recently) all someone needs to do is look down and see the current EVE time.
Of course this won't help everyone.. but it should be a quick change. :D

It's called alcohol, my friend. I prescribe ****loads of it. Just walk over to Oveur's office and raid his stash. He probably won't notice a few bottles missing.
