Just an idea. With the increased HP and buff to Extenders, are we going to see alot more passive shield tanks in EVE? Probably not, but just curious... --

with 50% shield hp, a +50% shield recharge time penality gets applied too increased buffer, same recharge rate for all T1 ships only exception might be with T2 ships that passive shield-tank (due to increase of only 25% in buffer and recharge times, presumably) _____ -sig-

It will be pointless to active tank a drake in any situation. That's a change I dont really like because we will play the cap game in the future and a passive tank will allways win.

Have they really nerfed the shield regen time along with the hp boost?
That will have a major impact on the viability of passive tanks. For example increasing the shiled hp of the ferox by 50% would take it to about 3000. With extenders that goes up to about 12000. reducing regen time by 50% has a disproportinally huge effect on hp regen for the hp provided by the shield extenders and will likely reduce the overall regen in terms of hp per sec.

Tux has stated flat out that Regen/Sec will remain the same as before.

More shields, same peak recharge rate.

OH for crying out LOUD.
Boost HP of ship and extenders by +X%, increase shield recharge time by +X% (same X%) means ABSOLUTE shield recharge remains the same at same (percentage) level of shield, end-result being a bit MORE (negligibly more) shield recharge total during a fight (because you stay a TINY bit longer in "the sweet spot").
The only problem is with ships that get +X% HP boost *different* from the % boost of extenders, problem being how much % gets slapped on to the base shield recharge time. 25% extra HP and recharge time, extenders become overpowered ; 25% extra HP and 50% extra recharge time, you NEED extenders to compensate for the loss, and you still don't compensate properly. _____ -sig-
