As you might have guessed, I used to be a buyer of ISK. It was a crappy think to do, but i was new in EVE, and it seemed like a good way to get started in EVE. This is my alt, but i fear retribution from the eve community. I dont blame the gm's, my topic is purely humourous
I was caught somehow, but the how doesnt matter. CCP will probably figure it out when a 3 day old char desposits tons of money into your account, no surprise there really.
they took away all of the isk i bought, naturally leaving me with a significant debt. If you dont know much about eve, like me, you cant use the market, or trade with other people unless you have zero or positive isk.
this leaves my char ive poured my heart and soul into unable to play the game basically...
The really tragic part was i didnt realize how insignificant the isk i bought was, i thought it would get me fast tracked, when in reality i was to noobish to spend it wisely. The vast majority of my isk comes from my skills and knowhow of eve at this point. and the only thing i got from the isk i bought was a few flashy toys that dont really do me much good.
I'm sure not many people dont know this already, but buying isk is bad mm'kay! dont do it, the isk you earn really doesnt help you that much!

Good post. ISK without experience is worth nothing. Experience is not the same as skill points, and cannot be bought.

Edited by: Solarienne on 30/10/2006 15:58:26 Good post and it must have taken a bit of courage to come clean with us, when you just did not have to (as CCP resolved the issue).
Good for you to realise the error of your ways and I hope you will get back on track playing legitimately.

Edited by: Missie Moomingirl on 30/10/2006 16:06:45 Let this be a lesson to all, do not buy isk unless you do it using the CCP endorsed method of buying timecards from ccp for real money and then selling them for isk.
Buying isk is bad unless ccp are in on the profits.

The realy ****ty thing is, i didnt know about gtc's when i bought the isk.
I think they should start advertising the gtc's harder to the noobs (maybe put it in the tutorial) or stop beating them with the gm stick. I may or may not renew my subscription...and it was only a week ago i started to consider paying yearly...

There is a good reason CCP do not advertise GTC to the new players. If most trial players found out that ccp legalised isk buying, they would never subscribe in the first place.
Can you imagine a new player to EVE, on his trial account. He gets a popup telling him he can buy gametime codes from CCP and sell them to players ingame for isk. Is that player likely to even want to continue playing EVE after seeing that?
Buying game currency for real money is wrong no matter who gets the profits.

3-day old char? Is that how the ISk sellers do it?
Why not put a transfer limit of 1M per day on characters less than a month old?
- Got grief?

i dotn know if they were infact 3 days old, but im sure people dont use their 3 year old mains to do it, and it must be pretty obvious (considering they had illogical names)

Wasn't this made more difficult when CCP altered (removed, actually) the ability of trial accounts to "Give Money. . . "?
Or am I just smokin' Fedo-dung again?

The idea behind the punishment, is to get you to leave, (at least I hope so). Your lucky you can even come here to the forums. For I would have permaband not only you, but everyone with a name that even sounds like yours, (Your name aint smith is it?) But that is just me......

Quote: The idea behind the punishment, is to get you to leave,
Incorrect.
If a player leaves, he is no longer paying a subscription fee.
What CCP has done here is to punish this player to the point where purchasing ISK will probably never cross his mind again, and at the same time left him with the option to continue playing (and paying), if he so desires.
You don't teach someone right from wrong by putting a bullet in their brainpan. <squish!>
You beat them with a stick. Hard. However, if the stick don't work 'cause they do it again, by all means, drag 'em out back and empty the magazine into 'em.

the stick puts even a dedcated player, who loves eve, real close to leaving.
it leaves you with the option of buying gtc, which isnt really any better than teh thing that got me into teh mess, or quitting.
Right now i cannot make money, i cant use the market, i cannot trade with other players. my only option is to rat.
Does anyone know if its "legal" to mine ore in my main (who is in debt), jet the ore to an alt, sell the ore, and pay off the debt? i ask this because ccp doesnt want me to even trade my ore to an alt, which makes obtaining isk all the more impossible.
What exactly are my options? I am asking this as a recovering isk buying addict
someone? please help with any ideas about how to make this isk back without quitting, or buying gtc. (i could buy gtc, but like i said, thats teh kind of behavior that got me into this mess, not to mention its WRONG)
