Hello,
I love to try to fight with solo ships in PvP. Unfortunately, I'm not often able to find a fight, and sometimes I turn around during 2 or 3 hours without seeing anything out of dscan. Eventually I choose to crash on a fight I have no chance to win (last exemple, Stabber vs Loki + Sabre), because I'm tired of turning around.
What should I look for when I'm planning my route, in order to cross as many players (and so many potential fights) as possible ? |

What you fly determines what you can solo. Also location location. Are you roaming through the drone regions or something not to get any fights where the locals just dock up when you show up.

Faction Warfare lowsec is the easiest place to find solo PvP for lower skilled players.

You try to find fair fight in EVE, but there is no match maker in this game. Even in novice plex you will be attacked by ppl in much better frigates and/or bigger numbers of them.
So if you want to find the place where you will be able to fight solo fight with chances to win go play WoT. I am in very same boat as you - carebear who want to try low sec pew pew fun. So I just prodiced myself a swarm of cheap frigates close ot Rens and go lose them on Siseide - Egmar pirate high way. With my sec status and miserable killboard I rearely have to wait more then 3 minutes for local pirates come to pop me. So - plenty of fights. I can not win, but usually I am able to fight and even run away ;)))
What really works interesting is to be part of the gang. Just avoid plexing teams. They sit on button in large groups with no one comes to fight them. And if someone comes - your team is so outnumbered, that FC orders to run away. |

Have a look at Zappity's adventures. It's a fun read and contains lots of advice on ship fitting, roaming, finding suitable targets, etc.

Golden rule for winning solo fights, know the fit, skill and buddy situation of your opponent and what it means for you before engaging into a fight.
Practice, practice, practice ... and take risks to find the limits of your fit/ship. I also recommend to stick to one hull/weapon for some time and get good at it.

Any advice for me ? Maybe more patience x) Are you dscanning all the time? Fight inside a plex, and move the range slider to the lowest setting. That way you know is someone else intends to crash the fight. If anyone else does show on Dscan at that range, you can be sure its backup, and you can decide if you want to fight more.

Yep I'm always dscanning. I used to do correct moves and some kills when I was overusing Incursus (especially rail Incursus) and Slasher, on plexes. I've also done some good stuff with Atron. But out of these 2 ships (Incursus and Slasher) II'm dying very often without killing anything.
Now I'm trying to fly cruisers because I want to fly something else than frigates. And I'm doing it awfully. For you to realize I've lost 4 Stabbers and 2 Omens. I lost one to a Gnosis, an other to 2 Worm and a Condor, I lost a Stabber to a Svipul etc.
So I think I mostly engage (and loose) vs superior forces but I do so because I'm not able to find something else to give a try at, or I'm trapped at undock / gate.
I had good fights with a brawling dual rep Thorax by the past. I think I knew what I was doing, even if I often died, and I managed to bait people under sentry fire or kill them when they thought I was an easy pick. As a kiter I don't know what I'm doing. I feel a bit overhelmed by the MWD speed and I don't land good hits on my ennemies because I can't keep optimal range AND good transversal. But I want to learn how to do it, because I think it's a good way to choose when you fight and when you warp out. |

your Atron and Incursus fits are very similar to how I used to fly them, but they're so dependent on speed that i wouldn't really even bother flying them without Zor's Hyper-Link + Rogue Acceleration Control 605 in your head or T2 skirm links. Even with a speed advantage, the MWD rail Atron is super niche. It doesn't have enough DPS to break targets fast and doesn't have enough tank to absorb much damage so basically you're limited to winning against slower targets without drone bays and short-range guns (e.g. Thrashers). The speed makes it very appealing to fly but having to bail from most fights just makes it aggravating after a while.
for your play style I would suggest a focus on scram-kiting with the following ships: Null-filled blaster Atron, rail Comet, arty RFF (2x web), rocket Hookbill (2x web). |

In my experience, it is easy to find a fight but hard to find a solo fight. Even harder to find a solo fight where lower skilled players stand a chance. Even if a fight starts solo, generally their friends come in at some point.

Just zoom around Black Rise and look for any of my corp members and shoot at them.
Everyone in my corp is always solo.

If you want relatively fair fights, I would suggest RvB. Usually there's some people around who are up for 1v1, and you can usually come to a fair agreement on what ships/mods to use. |

Honestly, bro, you're not going to find a lot of 1v1 these days. Especially in hi- and low-sec. If PvP is what you want, find a corp and head to null. There won't be a ton of 1v1, but at least you'll have fights. |

FW lowsec is still the best for solo fights but they can be hard to find some days. It can become frustrating. I have started to branch out into other interests - you can generally tell when it is going to be a bad evening so go do something else.
Depending on your budget and experience you could try shipping up to MJD BCs. Kill off the scrams and run from the long points. Myrmidon works well. But you will certainly die at some point.
Thank you all for the kind words earlier in the thread :)

I'm not especially looking for 1v1. I can find some 1v1 in FW, especially because people usually have bad timing and foe's friend land once the fight is already finished when it's frig vs frig. But with cruisers it's not the same.
With brawling Thorax I've done some nice moves but in the end I die because I can't escape or dictate range.
I'm not easy with BCs, they're even bigger (and thus slower) than cruisers and they're a bit expensive atm. I'll give a try to the 3-rep Myrmidon after a bit of farming.
I also want to try a heavy beam Omen. It's 300 DPS @ 40km so on this side it's fairly good. Unfortunatly it's not very fast for a supposed kiter (2200 m/s cold) so I don't know if it will do the trick vs other cruisers. |

Get in a frig, a decent brawler maybe a merlin or incursus, find a novice or small plex, scan it from a planet to see what's there. If it's something you wnt to fight , go in, if it's empty but ppl are around go in and wait wait at the warp in and scan every few secs on 1.0 AU. You can make this easier by sticking the cusror in the distance box and hitting enter. Wait for something to show, if you want to fight it, stay, if not warp off. It's quite a simple plan but it works in the busier (but not manic) parts of FW space. |
