Hi all...
I wondered why we don't have solar panel modules you can anchor that reduce fuel needs or perhaps even eliminate them all together with?
I plex to play and I find fueling my POS very time consuming and you really have NO other choice other than making or buying fuel. PI can be pretty time consuming when you can only play a few hours per day.
The catch to this of course would be making the fuel efficiency module require a high amount of PG or CPU so that your forced to choose between onlined defenses (guns etc) and ISK efficiency.
Note, this module would be anchored outside the POS perhaps? |

That is a scary thought. I have heard it was a brutal pain in the butt. Right now I have to fuel several pos's and even if I got PI working in my favor it still wouldn't be enough. so yeah an idea like this would be wonderful. or even things to put in there to boost the POS powergrid or CPU would be nice. |

Instead of dealing with offline POS squatters, you'll be dealing with ONLINE POS squatters. I should also mention, as a bonus, it'll wreck part of the PI economy and drop ice products into the abyss. Good stuff.
This will surely end well.

A good point it would do that.
maybe a balance needs to be met say the solar panels and such cut down on the amount of fuel say turning a large pos into something like a medium in fuel consumption rather than eliminating it entirely. smalls would probably end up being fuel less but they would still be limited on the power grid and CPU.
That way the market for Fuel is still there but the fuel heavy large towers can be easier to manage. Would something like that work? |

Those aren't solar panels.
Also... welcome to the joys of POS ownership. An old vet once told me; "before setting up a POS really think about WHY you need it."

Where is the connection here?
Doing actual gameplay-related stuff leaves less time to work-to-play for plex? Heh.

Or... we could read about the new proposals coming in the next couple of years which will only use fuel when actually performing activities in your POS. and not complain about an old system that they have already announced is going to be phased out over time. |

That's interesting, I didn't realize they were making changes to POS. About time... Where did you read this? |

I think you're being a little dramatic and exaggerating.
1. The module itself can be manufactured purely from PI. 2. The module can cut in on your defenses (even reduce resists?) and or cost a great amount of PG and CPU. |

Well, this is at least somewhat original as a whine. So I'll keep it somewhat constructive: Learn to read dev blogs.

Where did you read this? it was in their whole "structures moving forward" presentation, complete removal of outposts and POS's in favor of a plethora of system structures and like 5 or 6 sizes of "base" strcutures, the smallest of which ebign unable to be docked at, the mid beign dockable by subs, and the largest dockable by normal caps, everythign unable to dock is moored, all of it fitted with a ship-style fitting screen instead of anchored modules.
my only issue with the new system is likely ****/deathstars are gonna be alot less common since there wont be open pg/cpu, but slots. |

Read the dev blog on upcoming structure changes (and by upcoming I mean over the next year+) and note that they're changing how fuel works. There no point in Solar Panels with the current system, if you want lower fuel cost for less fitting space get a smaller tower.
If you can't afford to run a POS then don't, there are other options available to you for most of what a POS does they just have trade-offs, most of which involve a cost but one that is going to be lower than fueling and maintaining a POS. |

POS fueling with t1 haulers is a pain. But deadspace haulers or the t2 ones, do make it a lot easier. When i have good exits, i haul till they are almost eol. If we get a highsec, we even use a freighter. That way we always have about 1 month in reserve.
As for the structure changes and fuel requirements, well i don't think it will change much for us. We do use our current pos or we pack them up. We havn't really bothered with dead sticks.
What i want to know is the new anchoring rules? I mean can we put structures in a safe?
Death and Glory!
Well fun is also good.
