I have been trying to log on and have been getting the error that I am running a pre-release version. I have tried running repair.exe and then running to launcher without any success. I have also tried running exefile.exe again with out any luck.
I generally run through steam (where I originally got the game in December 2012).
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,

Are you by chance using Windows 7 64bit? Or perhaps is your internet provided through Charter? These are both true for me and I'm also having launcher problems. |

I am experiencing a similar problem with the launcher. I don't get the error message but my launcher says that it 'Failed to download update for EVE Online Launcher'. So cant play the game, have tried the suggested work arounds and no luck. |

Similar faults here. 64 bit windows 7. Have not tried Repair or clicking "Yes", I'm guessing - at best it would be useless. |

I get the pop-up window saying I have a pre-release version of EvE Launcher as well. Launcher Update fails. I have Windows 7 64 bit os.
Normally I would figure this is just a build bug, probably is to be honest, but I am not taking any chances. I won't attempt a log-in until CCP provides a fix for the launcher. It would *** if this is some kind of malware targeting the EvE Launcher. |

I have a vpn in my router. When its enabled and connected, I get the "running pre-release launcher error" or EVE Offline. Also cannot connect to any eve websites first try, connection reset errors.
If I disable the vpn, launcher works perfectly fine, websites load without error. |

Same issue here with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. However clicking "OK" allows me to login as per normal.... though it took a while to realise this. :/

too bad players couldn't vote where to invest time developing. Pretty sure the launcher would be on the bottom of the list. I didn't like it when they introduced it, and it's never worked right since. |

I'm still having issues with this. I firstly ran repair.exe which decided to delete my ResCache and didn't fix anything.
I then uninstalled completely and re-installed eve and the launcher is still complaining about being a pre-release version.

Would be nice if someone from CCP could comment as many of us seem to be having this issue.

This happens to me too, I use steam and tried to verify game integrity, and oh boy that was a bad idea, steam will download 7.5gb of file when you do that. |

For those experiencing the "Pre-release" message, we are looking into it. A couple of things that could help us track this:
1. If you are running 2.2.871481 of the launcher you should be able to click "Ok" and proceed. If that doesn't work, it would be good to know.
2. If #1 doesn't work for you, please post the error before the launcher log line: - root - selfUpdate - INFO - Best published version: None
3. If you don't see anything from #2, it would be good to know if the "Pre-release" popup consistently continues to happen.
Again, if you have 2.2.871481, your launcher is proper. This "Pre-release" pop-up is coming from a failed check to get the latest versions from our CDN, due to what might be SSL, but this isn't consistent for everyone, so there might be a regional issue here.
Let me know what you find! |

I can not click 'ok' to proceed. The launcher loads up with the play button greyed out and down the bottom it says 'Failed to download update for EVE Online Launcher'

still recieving the pre release popup but game will load everytime question: ive noticed alot of people said there using the steam version which is true for me to could this be part of the issue?
also steam seems to have a more dramatic indicator that it is not affiliated with eve online than it used to. Could it be there launcher platform is not interfacing with the new download on demand system properlly?
thank you for getting back to people about this CCP |

Have you clicked the account managment settings and ticked the download all cache resources box yet? if not try that and restart your launcher and it should force it to download updated files |

This works but what I would like to know is when there will be a solution. Is there not a place where you can just reload the launcher, would that not fix the problem? |

I get this error, but I'm able to launch the client and login. I'm located in New Zealand. I connected through my UK vpn account and did not receive the error, so it does seem to be a regional issue.

I first encountered the 'pre-release' issue after using Singularity and then returning to the main Eve client. I'm running Windows 8 64-bit.
After running the 'repair' tool I use eve.exe to activate the client - when I do this I get version 2.2.871481 but when I enter the game it thinks I'm a newbie and offers me all the tutorials again and has wiped all my chat channels and overview settings.
If I revert to opening Eve from my desktop (the conventional method) I get version 2.2.871709 and the 'your running a pre-release EVE launcher' .... I click 'yes' enter the game with no problems and, behold, all my presets are intact! |
